Safe Schools Alliance are asking people to write to the EHRC who have announced they are going to clarify the law on single sex spaces. they particularly want teachers and parents to write in about the experiences at their school(s) and request that you copy them into your correspondence so they can collate. [email protected]

There is a template letter on the website

Can we do this about concerns at other schools?

BloodinGutters · 24/10/2021 13:03

About policies making toilets mixed sex as well as ones advertised as such that don’t meet the building’s regulations about toilets in schools.

hungryhippo · 24/10/2021 16:14

@bloodingutters yes about any school where they are not making use of single sex exceptions to the detriment of children.

BloodinGutters · 24/10/2021 16:28

@hungryhippo ty, will do then.

Even if you have single sex exemptions if you want your child's school to hang on to them it might be worth writing - explaining why your child would be reluctant to use the toilets otherwise.

I think, if it applies to anyone, that if when viewing schools as a prospective parent if you ruled a school out because it had single sex toilets, and if that limited your options significantly locally when picking a school that would also be worth mentioning.

Have you been doing university open days with your kids? Noticed the toilets? I'd mention that too.

Great thanks for sharing. We had a rumour at our school.that a boy was using the female changing rooms and it took me a while to get a straight answer from the school. Will add this in my letter as an example.

Thank you for this ChristinaXYZ

So important as women and children are never consulted about whether they wish to have mixed sex toilets (and remember schools that advocate for this on the basis of "trans ideology" ) must also be insisting on mixed sex changing, showers and dormitories.

I'dd defy anyone to find a school where children have been properly consulted and the response is "yay - go ahead. We all want to undress and toilet alongside the opposite sex" Hmm
