Teacakes and Tambourines

Ah, I've worked out why teacakes are twittering now, but can anyone clarify why tambourines?

@LangificusClegasaurous

According to Vito, the guy who broke his sign, then pushed the stick in Vito's hand upright as he shouted "He's got a weapon" is a writer at Netflix. I hope whoever his boss was saw that footage. Also, another comedian who came with Vito was pushed into a planter and was afraid he had a concussion.
And, I have to admit, that I hadn't grasped that this was an attempt to draw Vito to the attention of LEOs who might have tackled, tasered, or otherwise harmed him because of that framing.
AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 23/10/2021 15:53

Shouting "[Vito] has a weapon" in an emotionally-charged crowd when there are armed police present is not at all an attempt to get Vito killed. Nothing to see here. Move along.

TheWeeDonkey · 23/10/2021 16:01

That video was like some surreal kind of performance art.

I'm trying to think how I can explain it to people who don't know anything about it and I don't know if I can.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2021 16:04

It's the lack of self-awareness that gets me - if I were tambourine person I'd be waking up at 3am cringing myself inside out. Somehow I think they is going to sleep like a baby, totally believing in their actions.

They might be cringing that they used the apparently controversial word 'mother' I suppose?

picklemewalnuts · 23/10/2021 16:10

That was hilarious in a horrifying kind of way. Thank you so much for posting it!

NoToast · 23/10/2021 16:27

Ah, was wondering about the tambourines.

DraintheBlood · 23/10/2021 16:29

Motherfucker is such a gendered term, how can they not see it’s transphobic? Inclusive insults are important, ‘repent parent or carer or nb, agender or genderfluid nurture giver’ would be much more inclusive.

How misgendery to assume that they the tra’s are insulting has a cis gender uterus haver who birthed him and misexually to assume he is het.

Gosh TRA’s should go on diversity and inclusion insult training.

On a serious note I was so hoping he’d say ‘they took my stick, I am now a woman’. But I guess that’s highly penis exclusionary of me.

DraintheBlood · 23/10/2021 16:33

*who birthed they

DraintheBlood · 23/10/2021 16:34

Or them??

KittenKong · 23/10/2021 16:38

Lack of self awareness. Oh it will come, it will come. One night they will be sleeping - like a baby - in their comfortable bed... they will suddenly waken, sweat in their brow, pulse racing, heart ponding... “oh dear god, I did what????? And there are video receipts to prove it...” they will end up confessing to their nearest and dearest. And of their N&D are anything like my family, they will never be allowed to forget it. The image will be printed on Christmas cards and birthday cakes for years to come. Someone will add it as their ringtone then hide the phone at a family funeral. They will forever be introduced at or toes as ‘remember...? Well, here they are!’ It will be relentless.

And that will be that. 😘

@BreadInCaptivity

That video was a classic.

Not only did they give us tambourine TRA we also got to see gaslighting at its finest in the form of the guy who grabbed and destroyed the counter protesters poster leaving him with the stick it was attached to (saying I love Dave - obviously a very dangerous sentiment) then crying out "he's got a weapon" a chant taken up by some others in the crowd. Hmm

Honestly it's well worth a watch. They come across as utterly unhinged.

As for the tea cakes I bet Turnocks are whooping with joy at the publicity and at increased sales by virtue of women all over the county like me being reminded of how nice they are and adding them to my shopping list.

The best bit is the TRA who destroyed the poster is identified as a writer for Netflix. Not only did he do that violent act, he is the one who shouted about the weapon. In an American context that is very dangerous as he well knew, because the police might take out their guns and shoot.
SolasAnla · 23/10/2021 18:31

The irony is that DC hilighted that exact behaviour when he was out at dinner
Approached DC
He was being filmed to see his reaction
DC engaged the ones filming
They called the cops

Here
The guy was counter-protesting in a really joke-on-you if you engage way
The netflix group moved in on him
He retreated the is physically accosted and has the sign destroyed
The yell weapon or "immediate threat to life here Security/Cops come with guns out please"

To get an idea of how dangerous it can be in a crowd the video below shows how the police respond to a call for a gun in a public park

This is a fuller version:

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/10/2021 23:57

The funniest thing was Tambourine Person could be heard politely calling "Excuse me! Excuse me!" presumably as they were pushing through the crowd and then went all contorted face and "REPENT MOTHERFUCKER!!!"

Enough4me · 24/10/2021 00:27

Tesco online groceries are down in many areas, I know it isn't really, but I'd love it if it's all the Tunnock purchases. I've set up an order for another store and added lots of Tunnocks to my order.

Rightsraptor · 24/10/2021 13:14

I'm thinking of naming my house 'Tunnocks'.

WarriorN · 24/10/2021 15:34

Repent MotherTunnocks

I'm in stitches!

WarriorN · 24/10/2021 15:36

I hadn't seen the film; hilarious.

But also worrying. I found those people intimidating. Standing with arms out in that way was v suffocating.

WarriorN · 24/10/2021 15:38

I'm handing out tunnocks for Halloween. 🎃

BloodinGutters · 24/10/2021 15:44

I think it makes it very obvious that it’s entirely different for a man to stand up to this than for women. He manages to do it while looking reasonably relaxed and maintaining humour and gentleness.

I’m very obnoxiously loud mouthed about this publicly at schools and so on, I find it easier to not apologise or justify my feelings than to worry about what anyone might think. But the idea of anyone physically facing off/controlling my space would be terrifying for me. And that’s before the very real risk of being shot in America once the weapon threat is yelled about.

Stealhsquirrelnutkin · 24/10/2021 21:27

Hey netflix tambourine girl scream repent at me
I'm not sorry and there's no chance that I'm going to

She really is an inspiration to us all.

TLDR: MA dared to tweet an article which upset the TRAs, she got vile abuse. MA then appeases the TRAs tweeting a video attacking JKR and Maya and a pseudo science article www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/4379188-Margaret-Atwood
