Good Law Project?

The GLP are involving themselves in legal case where a 13 yo trans child has been refused a place at a school because they are trans. twitter.com/GoodLawProject/status/1446453657227104273?t=kZOpOY23DeK3P_AxgT5nFw&s=19 I clicked through to read more as this seems like such an obvious case of transphobic discrimination I was surprised it had got to the stage of legal action.
This passage jumped out, I'm now thinking that the 'vulnerable child' mentioned here is probably a sibling of the trans child.
I'm extremely skeptical of Maugham because of the way he conducts himself on Twitter and think he's seen 'trans child' and jumped into the middle of a very fraught family situation and may cause more problems for both children involved. Obviously if it's the straightforward discrimination he claims it is then the school should definitely be held to account. Also the governor's comments mentioned are just silly, no-one is giving 13 year olds surgery.
Something about this is not passing the sniff test though...

Why does this child's sex need to be kept secret? Is this secrecy expected to help a child who is already vulnerable for other reasons? Do the foster parents want the child's sex to be kept secret from most of the staff as well as the other children, or is it just the children who will be lied to?

This is an extremely vulnerable child that seems to be have moved about under the radar of the authorities and The GLP are exploring them for clicks and donations.
There’s something seriously missing from the narrative if as they say - the school will only talk with Elliot’s social worker going forward. Red flags galore.

I wonder if Maugham is aware of how he is perceived outside of the little Twitter bubble he maintains by blocking anyone (mostly women) who even mildly disagrees with him.
The GLP seem to be constantly recruiting new staff so he must be doing quite well out of it.

It's a fantastic model:

  1. Crowdfund for causes which are very important to a small number of people, so each one gets traction within it's niche.
  1. If you don't make enough to launch legal action, charge yourself to send a few letters and pocket the profit into general funds.
  1. If you make enough: sue. If you lose you've already been paid for the work done and there may be a bit left over for general funds.
  1. If you win you'll be awarded costs and you profit twice.

Of course you can't formally withdraw profits (because it's a charity) but you can spend money on expenses and draw the salary you set yourself. Plus it's a great way to gather influence which can be leveraged into other highly profitable opportunities.

Suing the NHS now, he's quoted in the article at the top of this thread. He usually tweets about any media appearances but I can't see any reference to this on his tl. Wonder whyHmm

Don't the school have a duty of care to the child that is already a pupil?

I don't think the good Law Project should risk a test case that could change that situation. The implications are potentially far reaching.

How can a child's trans status be kept secret at a new school? What about toilets, showers and changing rooms which are single sex.
I can't get my head around this. Basically any child who wanted to keep their trans stays a secret could just change schools and everyone would have to go along with it. Massive red flag.
There must be more going on, I doubt it is transphobic.
Also 3 hours a day travelling on top of a normal school day, that is just awful. If they need an hour to get ready that's 10 hours a day, when do they get to do homework and be a child?
