Politicians always tripping themselves up.. David Lammy

So David lammy was asked on radio whether it's transphobic to say that only women have a cervix, and his answer was 'i don't know if it's transphobic but it's not accurate, it's probably the case that trans women don't have ovaries but a cervix is something that .. I understand that a cervix is something you can have after various procedures, hormone treatments and all the rest of it'

Firstly... he's wrong lol but secondly, surely what HE is saying would be seen as 'transphobic'? The question 'is it transphobic to say only women have a cervix' surely implies that it is transphobic to say that because trans men (female) have cervix' too... so by him saying 'trans women can have a cervix too' in response to the question 'is it only women that have a cervix' is surely saying that he doesn't think trans women are women? Lol ... politicians are always tripping themselves up!! I'm surprised no TRAs have picked up on this though

What does he mean by transwomen?

theDudesmummy · 06/10/2021 18:02

Sounds like he doesn't know what he means by a cervix either!

I am sad that Lammy is going down this route, I generally agree with and respect his politics, this is a shame.

@PaleBlueMoonlight

What does he mean by transwomen?

What does he mean by a cervix?

Not too hot on anatomy is he....

Oh god it is laughable.

At least Emily Thornberry could make sense, within the assumption that Transmen are Men, that if you accept that assumption, then some men have cervixes.

Men who through their own mangling of their health records are at risk of not being called for a smear.

One can follow that line of thinking and see the point where one doesn't agree.

Lammy is just inventing some fiction that surgery could give someone a cervix?

And absolutely, surely Lammy thinks transwomen are women so any male person who has had surgery to create a cervix (if this is actually a thing?) should pass without comment from Lammy.

I daresay it is transphobic. Everything is bloody transphobic. Believing that only women give birth is transphobic ffs. Tran's rights is where logic came to die.

I think interviewers should start asking easier questions, which even people like David Lammy can understand.

What about: 'Is it transphobic to say women don't have penises?'

LaetitiaASD · 06/10/2021 18:39

Dear Mr Lammy,

Do you think that heterosexual men and lesbians should include women with penises in their potential dating pool?

Do you understand that by saying "yes" you are being heterophobic and homophobic as well as misogynistic towards lesbians?

Do you understand that by saying "no" you are admitting that the whole trans-cult that you claim to support is utter nonsense?

Gonna email him now actually!

Yes, it's pretty clear that even these politicians don't know what a cervix is, which makes it all the more important to have clear language when discussing public health matters!
