I thought I'd start a new thread on this specifically given that some of the WPATH high-ups have been speaking out recently.

All the details of the review are here:

www.wpath.org/soc8

Their chapter list includes some interesting new chapters:

6. Assessment, Support and Therapeutic Approaches for Adolescents with Gender Variance/Dysphoria NEW

12. Sexual Health Across the Lifespan NEW

18. Applicability of the Standards of Care to Eunuchs NEW

19. Competency, Training, Education NEW

20. Ethics NEW

I think these new guidelines (due the end of this year) may mark a bit of a turning point?

I smell law suits.

I wonder if Kiera Bell and Mrs A triggered this?

This systematic review of 20 studies

I know most people here know this but there are standards and protocols for conducting a systematic review with established criteria and tools for establishing the certainty and reliability of evidence and the risk of bias in the methodology of the study etc.

This is very relevant to the "Eunuchs" category:

Pornography, Paraphilias, & "Puberty Blockers"

@InvisibleDragon

Abstract of paper from 2010: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/15532731003749095?scroll=top&needAccess=true

"Currently, the WPATH Standards of Care (SOC) provide guidelines for the treatment of male-to-female (MtF) transsexuals suffering from a gender identity disorder (GID). However, a large number of men with gender dysphoria who desire to be emasculated do not fit the classical pattern of MtF transsexualism. They loathe their manhood, but do not identify as, nor wish to be, female. Instead, they seek castration to become something outside the binary sexes. The formal term for such an individual is “eunuch,” which we here refer to as an MtE transgendered individual."

Hmm

Money to be made from both male and female "eunuchs":

“WHAT DO WE MEAN BY "GENDER AFFIRMING CARE?" A CONVERSATION WITH DR. LAURA EDWARDS-LEEPER”

www.podcastone.com/episode/What-Do-We-Mean-By-Gender-Affirming-Care-A-Conversation-with-Dr-Laura-Edwards-Leeper

Description:

Part one of Gender Nuance, a three-part series for the week of October 4, 2021

Clinical psychologist Dr. Laura Edwards-Leeper has worked with transgender and gender questioning youth since 2007 and has helped facilitate many successful medical transitions in young people.

She has also, in the last year or so, begun to publicly voice concerns that some clinicians in her field have adopted a philosophy that overlooks, even eschews, the importance of proper patient assessment.

In this conversation, the first of a three-part series this week, Dr. Leeper talks with Meghan about the concept of "gender affirming care" and how lack of access to specialized care can lead young patients to providers who follow protocols for adult patients, which may or may not be appropriate.

She describes how she works with her own patients and talks about why something as fundamental as proper assessment has become so controversial in her field.

Guest Bio:
Dr. Edwards-Leeper is an Associate Professor in the School of Graduate Psychology at Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon. She also works with clients through her private practice in Beaverton, Oregon.

Dr. Edwards-Leeper was a member of the American Psychological Association Task Force that developed practice guidelines for working with transgender individuals.

She is currently the Chair of the Child and Adolescent Committee for the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and is involved in the WPATH Standards of Care (SOC) 8 revision.

She is an ally to the LGBTQ community and is considered an international expert in this field.
