Justice minister Victoria Atkins on World at one on R4 today talking about misogyny as a hate crime and the proposed public enquiry on the police conduct etc. Rather spoiled the intention of the whole item by saying that everything that might come under misogyny hate crime should be recorded properly, in relation to victims because of their gender . It will be interesting to see whether this is to be named by her as female victims of male violence. And whether the police will gaily carry on being recorded as males when committing male crimes and sentencing them accordingly. Is it not Victoria who chaired the wholly biased consultation on the GRA? I doubt whether men will be named as the perpetrators in all cases, which means her desire to record crimes accurately will not happen.
