The 79 women killed since Sarah Everard’s murder

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-79-women-killed-since-sarah-everards-murder-6ns2bft6v

I just seen this and found it a profoundly moving piece. (I hope the link works)

It’s the top story on the Times App. Maybe the media are finally getting it, things need to change.

The link doesn't work because it's behind a pay-wall.

Shocking though.

Sobering reading. Those poor women

Working link - it can take a bit of time for all the women's names o load though if your internet connection is poor

Powerful, just a paragraph and a list of names.

Awful.

GroggyLegs · 02/10/2021 20:21

So many women stabbed, so many found in the street.

Why is this ignored? Or brushed off with a whine of 'not aaaaaall men' as if they're the victims?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 02/10/2021 20:25

It's really chilling. Reading through that list really brings it home. So bloody sad.

FanGirlX · 02/10/2021 20:36

Shocking.

Fluffyhairdontcare · 02/10/2021 21:01

It's so upsetting. All those lives lost and the ripples that will be felt for generations too. When it says 'found dead at her home' does that mean they don't know what happened? Is it presumed that it was a domestic violence related murder?

NancyDrawed · 02/10/2021 21:09

I can't find the words to express how sad I feel and how sorry for the loss of all those women killed in the last six months.

And yet until I found this board I had no idea how bleak things were for women, how much violence is committed against women. And STILL people don't understand why women want and need single sex spaces and say 'it doesn't affect me' if you try to speak to them about it. I despair.

MarineBlue33 · 02/10/2021 21:29

This is unbelievably awful. So sad. Thanks for the working link @exwhyzed.
I just didn't even know about most of these women

Scoutingformygirls · 02/10/2021 21:35

The really terrifying thing is it's not an exhaustive or definitive list. These aren't THE women killed since Sarah, they're some of the women killed since Sarah. There are too many to list. Beyond comprehension.

For eg Mee Kuan Chong, Bennylyn Burke and her daughter (arguable could have been before Sarah), Eileen Barrett, Caroline Crouch.....just off the top of my head.

I keep remembering a woman and her teenage daughter but can't remember their names sadly. Was she found in a car or car boot? A nurse or pharmacist or similar?

Just so dreadful.

MarineBlue33 · 02/10/2021 22:08

I have looked up most of these women and all were violently killed by men
