Businesses that advertise for women/lesbians

Had a couple of run ins lately on and offline. Attracted by the idea of eg women only online groups or lesbian holidays, I felt a need to check what each meant and was told that of course all women , including TW would be welcome. I suggested that in that case the events/holidays / groups should not be advertised as women only as it would be misleading to readers/users. I was blocked by one owner and another told me basically I was a dinosaur and that younger women don’t mind. I think if you want a mixed sex experience that is fine but you need to know before you go. It is not fair to present as one thing when actually providing another. One acknowledged that it was possible that problems might occur but they would deal with them at the time, rather than be explicit in their policies. We know that anything advertised as women only attracts all sorts, and if I go to something for women and lesbians I would hope not to meet any males there. If the customer base is actually anybody then it should say so.
I don’t actually believe that all younger women have been so brainwashed, so am interested in hearing from them .

We had a similar thread recently - does anyone remember enough to locate it via search because it had some useful resources in it?

Until some more posters pop along, you might find some interesting discussion here:

That was my thread. I agree with you, OP.

It's been an issue for a long time. I went on a women's walking holiday in 1999 and one of the women on that seemed a bit strange, didn't mix with the rest of us and never spoke. 'She' eventually left a couple of days early. It was only afterwards that the penny dropped: 'she' never said anything because 'her' voice would have given the game away. It was the early days of this malarkey. Now we'd spot 'her' instantly.

Thanks for the link...I did remember there had been one. A plea to organisers.. please be clear about who is welcome. Many women wouldn’t sign up so are being excluded from what could be a great experience. But there are of course mixed sex events which are fine and many want them.

I see I contributed even..before the anti lesbian derailing happened..

Yes, totally agree with OP. I shall be self excluding unless reassured that events are womyn born womyn only
