How many more times before news reports/ the courts/ the police start naming men as men?

They should put a fucking photo so the public can see exactly which "women" are committing these crimes.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 09/09/2021 22:29

Julie Marshall, of Warbreck Drive, Blackpool, was John Marshall at the time of the offences involving a young girl in a Nottinghamshire town.
…
She pleaded guilty to four indecent assaults and two of indecency with a child. All the offences date from when the victim was eight years old.
…
Those offences came to light when the defendant had accessed, and downloaded, indecent images of children on her mobile phone whilst she was in hospital in August 2017 recovering from a heart attack. The use of the public wifi system had alerted relevant authorities

Ah, that case.

GroggyLegs · 09/09/2021 22:30

Marshall had triple heart bypass surgery and the unfortunate consequence for her was not being able to undergo hormone therapy or surgery for gender reassignment, added the judge.

Rebecca Sheardley gives more coverage to lamenting the paedophiles misfortune in not being able to modify their male body with hormones, than anything about the effect on Marshalls victim.

Every kind of fucked up.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 09/09/2021 23:06

Watching porn in hospital - presumably on a women's ward as unbelievably the NHS is terribly keen on placing paedophiles in wards with women. They've even got policies openly stating this:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9854261/Convicts-born-male-identify-female-placed-women-wards.html

What's that Stonewall slogan? Acceptance without exception - and this is what they mean.

NiceGerbil · 09/09/2021 23:21

FFS this is so out of hand.

Misogyny just in your face.

  1. Sexually abusing a child from age 8 after grooming
'She pleaded guilty to four indecent assaults and two of indecency with a child. All the offences date from when the victim was eight years old.'

27 months. Out in just over a year. Totally pathetic. I mean FFS. A child a little girl was groomed and sexually abused over a long period. She says it ruined her life that's not a surprise.
27 fucking months.

  1. Even though this was their background.
'Lisa Hardy, prosecuting, said Marshall was sentenced to a total of nine months immediate custody on July 14, 2020, for three charges of possessing Indecent images of children - amounting to 81,100 indecent images accrued over a 14-year period between 2004-2018. She had two laptops, a phone and 31 separate computer discs containing a combined total of 677 Category A images (the most serious), 465 Category B images and 79,958 Category C images.

"It was, it is submitted, indicative of an ongoing sexual interest in young female children", Mrs Hardy told the court.'

Out in just over a year.

yourhairiswinterfire · 09/09/2021 23:24

She is vulnerable in any prison environment.

My heart bleeds Hmm

"For you prison is a very difficult prospect. If you move to a male prison, then you will be put in isolation, as you were before. If you move to a female prison, there will be all sorts of other difficulties that have to be faced. There will have to be a meeting to identify the best way forward".

And what's actually wrong with putting this danger in isolation in the men's?! Every paedo is at risk in prison, however they identify, because they're fucking despised by everyone. Find a way to keep them safe in the men's, because women don't want them, ta.

NiceGerbil · 09/09/2021 23:24

Judge:

'Judge Rosalind Coe QC, who sentenced her, said the offending was over a 14-month period.

"The victim impact statement makes it apparent that this has had a life-changing consequence for your victim. It has come to light more recently, because she has only recently been able to gain the confidence and benefit of counselling and she has been able to speak to the police".

Judge accepts life changing consequences for being groomed and assaulted over a long period of time from age 8.

Assailant has conviction (if I'm reading correctly) for the massive amount of images of child sexual abuse in their possession. Prison time for it.

So... That says danger danger to me.

NiceGerbil · 09/09/2021 23:26

And yet!

JUDGE says hmm dunno mitigation.

Isolation in men's prison where were/ are no good.
Fair enough no one should be in isolation the whole time so the men's prisons need to address this.

'Now aged 55, she was summonsed to court on the abuse charges while serving that sentence in a male prison, HMP Preston, Lancashire, but was kept in isolation the entire time. She has suffered from a variety of difficulties, emotional and physical problems long-term. She is vulnerable in any prison environment.'

What about the vulnerability of the child they sexually abused for ages?
What about the vulnerability of the children in the massive number of images of CSA they had???

CharlieParley · 09/09/2021 23:27

I've been reading some of the Grevia reports on the implementation of the Istanbul Convention and the experts are adamant that data on sexual crimes must be disaggregated by sex. Because anything else helps conceal the fact that these crimes are almost always committed by males and in the main committed against female victims.

Which reporting like this does. It's not just offensive in a "these are not our crimes" way, it's actively harmful to women.

(I know the UK Government has not yet ratified the Istanbul Convention, but we have signed up to it.)

NiceGerbil · 09/09/2021 23:28

Judge again

'She also said Marshall had a difficult upbringing and always suffered with the issue of sexuality and gender identity. There was a long history of repeated suicide attempts.'

Well they are obviously a bit of a mess. But what does that have to do with grooming and sexually abusing a child???

NiceGerbil · 09/09/2021 23:30

'Marshall had triple heart bypass surgery and the unfortunate consequence for her was not being able to undergo hormone therapy or surgery for gender reassignment, added the judge.'

NOTE they were only caught for the images of CSA because they were viewing/ downloading while in hosp.

Which shouts. So far gone doing it on a fucking hosp WiFi.

NiceGerbil · 09/09/2021 23:30

'The judge said: "For you prison is a very difficult prospect. If you move to a male prison, then you will be put in isolation, as you were before. If you move to a female prison, there will be all sorts of other difficulties that have to be faced. There will have to be a meeting to identify the best way forward".'

NewlyGranny · 09/09/2021 23:56

Downloading inappropriate images of children on hospital WiFi.

Addicted or just really really dim? Or both, perhaps.

NiceGerbil · 10/09/2021 00:03

So this person is

In prison for downloading a vast vast amount of images of CSA including those which show children being raped.

They got caught because they went ahead while recovering from a massive operation, and over the hosp WiFi. I mean wtf. Presumably on a ward and with others around and doc nurses checking in etc.

In men's prison assist already when court for Grooming and sexual abuse of a child starting age 8.

27 months. Out in a little over a year (on top of anything left over what they're already in prison for?).

And a woman. Most people glance at headline. Woman.

This is such a huge help to the headline only or maybe read the first bit.

Impact can't be underestimated.

For years the papers have massively disproportionately reported on men found not guilty/ the rare cases where there's a false report of sex offences against women. And in fact their whole reporting of sex offences/ 'accidental' killing/ murder/ family annihilation is still really awful.

And now the already disproportionate reporting on sex offences committed by women is being increased by this sort of thing.

Who benefits?

The argument women do it too has been around for years. Claims that it's 50/50 and men don't report. Never interested in men committing crimes against men esp of a sexual nature. It's a standard MRA position.

The whole thing is utterly totally shit and the fact that so much of the 'western' world seems to be yay is I mean. Wtf.

DdraigGoch · 10/09/2021 00:06

The Nottingham Post web address implies that "Julie" is one of those who only "comes out" as trans after the police have started a case against them. An opportunist trying to take advantage of self-ID (which apparently never happens).
dyslek · 10/09/2021 00:16

The isolation wings in mens prisons are quite full. There are many men who cant be housed with the general population. Its not as if they are locked in a cell alone all day, its just like normal prison except everyone is in there for raping kids basically.

NiceGerbil · 10/09/2021 00:17

Why do female people have to get our issues etc watered down or reduced to our body parts.

While male people get called men/ boys and their actions minimised/ obscured by phrases such as child peer on peer sexual abuse massively increased etc.

dyslek · 10/09/2021 00:18

The fact this guy was downloading images of children being raped while in hospital know how risky it was shows his behaviour is compulsive and he cant stop it even if he wanted to.

NiceGerbil · 10/09/2021 00:20

I think the prison system, abuse, MH issues, treatment of inmates is terrible. For adults and young people.

That is a massive issue and needs attention but the govt has contracted out to arseholes like g4s to save £££ and of course it's not a topic the public generally are interested in.

No male prisoner should be at risk of or actually abused, assaulted, sexually assaulted etc.

Equally no male prisoner should every be in the women's estate for a massive number of different reasons.

NiceGerbil · 10/09/2021 00:23

Why esp with sex offences has it got to this?

Because society as a whole still feels massively more comfortable putting the spotlight anywhere but on the assailant. Unless he has done something that moves him into 'monster' category.

The rape myths abound, and are reinforced by the media.
The idea that women do it too is a comfortable get out from having to face up to anything.

My opinion.

TheGirlInTheGreenDress · 10/09/2021 00:30

Pure misogyny. Instead of making sure that a man is safe in a men’s jail, we’re just going to put a whole load of women at risk by putting him there and those women should just shut up.

NiceGerbil · 10/09/2021 01:01

I agree but the judge words and the sentence feel deeper than that. As have plenty of sentencing in similar cases.

The judge statement (at least the bit reported) gives the majority of thought to the mitigation of the offender. Their MH probs. The situation in men's prison (where they were at the time of the trial).

This person surely is a serious and dangerous child abuser.

A year? Even though accepted that the child sexual abuse from age 8 had long life changing impacts.

Grooming and sexually abusing an 8 year old over more than a year. And having thousands of CSA images including iirc 100s of cat a which is penetration..?

Just over a fucking year?

It's revolting.

And the reporting and the fact they may go to a women's prison.

The victim must be gutted I'm so sorry for her.
