So they won't cover Marion Millar but they are doing this. Listening and keeping my fingers crossed but it doesn't bode well so far

Reforms being opposed by 'some groups', or something similarly non-specific. Sorry - can't remember the exact word the reporter used, but it definitely wasn't women. Which is odd, considering this is Woman's Hour and they purport to represent women's views.

Igmum · 02/09/2021 10:15

Well that was possibly the least interesting way to present an important debate that entirely misses women's interests. WTF Woman's Hour?

Well there you are, we've covered it. Now back to the recipes.

BoreOfWhabylon · 02/09/2021 10:18

Well, they did eventually mention For Women Scotland, today's demo and GC objections to the changes, but it felt "tagged on"

Igmum · 02/09/2021 10:18

Yes WinterTrees and they completely ignore WHY women are organising, it's as though it happened spontaneously for no reason. Maybe the protesters wanted a party? Or a bit of company? So cross.

Yup. What do you mean we're afraid to talk about it? Blah blah blah - some people say... storm in a teacup...nothing to see here. Box ticked.

Emma Barnett asked the BBC reporter covering this issue whether the NRC's new guidance was a big change. Apparently it's not, it simply clarifies what the situation has been in Scotland for many years. They also mentioned there had been a consultation about GRA reform in Scotland and blithely moved on leaving the impression that there was nothing outstanding there and all was well.

I will say though that when the discussion moved onto For Women Scotland I was expecting a hatchet job but instead there was an effort made to present them neutrally.

I had to laugh though that in a subsequent segment in an interview with Fran Lebowitz, she contrasted racism and misogyny by saying that racism is based on a fiction, that there are fundamental differences between people of different races, while misogyny is based on real fundamental differences between men and women, differences in biology.

Abhannmor · 02/09/2021 11:31

Oh dear , does this mean the Dementors will try to get Fran Lebowitz to recant? Or perhaps WH will issue a grovelling apology. This does not represent our views blah blah ...

There done it.

Things to do, baths to share 🙄
