Stonewall annual financial accounts

Have I missed any discussion on the fact that SW extended their accounting period (meaning they don’t have to file accounts as soon) and also that any comparison with the prior year will be harder (especially as COVID will also muddy the waters)?

I’ve just posted on the MN/GLP director thread so am in a speculation mood….

When will they have to file them by?

Do you suspect it will obscure any loss of income from their Stonewall Champions scheme as organisations desert the sinking ship decide their money is better spent elsewhere?

Are charities allowed to 'extend their accounting periods'?

I thought publishing annual acconts was compulsory?

Leafstamp · 24/08/2021 22:23

Yes, that’s my exact suspicion.

They’ll have to file (the 18month period ending 31 March 2021) by 31/12/21, so not actually too long to wait. Will make very interesting reading - not just the figures, but they have to put in all sort of commentary about their aims, performance and governance etc.

Last filed account are her for info: SW accounts sept 2019

This is the limited company part of the organisation, not sure how it all fits together, I’ll have to some more digging or hope someone. Else comes along who has done the digging before.

One interesting piece of trivia…up until 2004, they were known as The Stonewall Lobby Group Ltd. Old habits die hard hey? Hmm

Hmmm.... interesing....

Seriously, when is an investigative journalist going to take this one?

There's enough for a whole series of documentaries here on FWR.

Newsnight are doing a good job of keeping up with the goings on at GIDS but where are the documentary film makers?!

I know, I know, it's nigh on impossible to get this stuff out there. But surely that'd make someone with really good investigative skills more suspicious and keener to poke this particular hornets nest?

Yes, totally valid point WeAreTheWomen. I have experience of companies changing their year end for very legitimate reasons.

However, it can also be a red flag, which is much more fun to think in this case Grin
