Are lesbians represented in the Welsh Government's LGBQT Action Plan?

While Merched Cymru members are busy analysing the content of the action plan to respond to the consultation, a few interesting facts, figures (and omissions) are being noted. Our LGB Alliance Cymru members are particularly concerned about exactly how much this plan represents their concerns and needs. This useful graphic sums up quite well why they are right to be worried.

Despite the numbers of lesbian, gay and bisexual citizens living in Wales, they barely register in this plan. The WG rejected all offers of representation on the 'expert panel', effectively silencing what should be an important part of the LGBTQ community in Wales. This is the result.

This probably the influence of Stonewall. They are going where they think they work is needed, and so it's not surprising that certain words feature much more regularly than others. However, what should be part of their action plan is making sure that lesbians have the right to form groups for themselves without the fear that someone is going to sue, intimidate or harass them.....but of course WAG won't do that.
