That is a very stark and worrying set of numbers.

they are buried in the darkest recesses of the MOJ HMPPS database, which IS online but it is impossibly hard to find but Clare B Dimyon ie me was an Aerospace Engineer & did numerical comparisons to prevent aeroplanes falling out of the sky! Call it my autistic gift to the world.

These are the stats that were sent to the FDJ judges in the High Court and the lawyers on both sides who did NOT use them. I have the PO docket that says they arrived.

I'm sooo glad you posted this. I spent hours upon hours trying to find the change in the rate of female perpetrated sex crimes over the last decade. I suspected that the recording by GI would increase the crimes allocated to women.

I was also looking for the same detail on violent crimes, of which women now score really highly in some categories on the ONS report. But again, I have struggled to find trend data.

Is it deliberately obscured?

@chickenyhead No it is not deliberately obscured, the powers that be simply are not clever enough to understand the construction of their own data.

I think we can say that TG inamtaes with GRC (both sexes) have NOT been recorded as Moj defined "transgender" ie in transition no GRC...but I am not clear they are necessarily counted as if female. However I will send an FOI to this effect. It is really really important detail and I have been gently in correspondence with MOJ for a couple of years tightening their definitions so that we CAN be clear about certain things! NO it is not deliberate this is covkup not conspiracy.

EVEN WITH the distorting impact of recording transgender males as if female, the MOJ stats are ABSOLUTELY CLEAR and we can still say "More than 99% of all sexual offenders are MALE...MOJ 2001-20 (England & Wales). There IS distortion, but it has NOT affected the stats YET and...the GREAT NEWS is that I already have 20 years of stats so IF there are changes of SIGNIFICANCE we WILL see them. For geeky statisticians keeping totals for many many years is "heaven"... so the point is we now HAVE them, BEFORE harm is occasioned.. This is the problem with soundbite culture, it needs more and more extreme things to be said to catch attention but it isn't necessarily the most useful thing for us to worry about. My response was to go and LOOK! That does not mean it was wrong for FPFW to highlight the problem, but I can set your mind at rest.

The fact that sex offenders are almost always male and they commit sex crimes mainly against women (and children) is not hopefully news to any standard member of the public.

Whether you have decided to believe that gender ID is the only thing that matters or not is ideological.

The argument against the dismantling of protection for women and girls because of gender... Was never had it was just done.

We're on the back foot against unsubstantiated belief.

The facts remain unclear because there is no political interest in these crimes.

You may well be right Burmundsey but there is a perfect storm gently brewing in the UK, which is having a knock on effect on many areas. Women's sport, VAWG, Prisons, NHS etc. Eventually those who believe feelz trumps facts will find themselves unconformable at becoming a joke. These facts matter, they matter enormously and we need to be loudly proclaiming that facts and science matter. Thanks OP for this post
