Great blog post by member detailing the threat to womens only refuges, please share.

"What we're witnessing is a world-wide assault upon women & girls' rights to the privacy, dignity and the safety afforded by single-sex spaces and services."

Gender ideology threatens women’s refuges

We've moved this over to the Sex and Gender topic now.

So Mumsnet sends this to the naughty corner? Really?

It's the same with everything.

And whatever you do, don't you dare post on AIBU or elsewhere on the wider boards.

My suspicion is that the next step will be to stop the Sex and Gender posts from appearing in 'Active' topics.

TheWeeDonkey · 30/07/2021 06:18

Its good to see that MRAs are still running things. Who cares if women's refugees are being decimated in the UK, clearly not Mumsnet.

There are lots of us who'd like to read something other than gender discussions on the feminism board. There is literally a whole board for gender stuff now so those interested in debating it can find it easily, and those who want to read about other feminist issues can do so without the board being taken over with gender discussions...

KevinBaconsJeans · 30/07/2021 07:10

Great, thanks for that @livmumsnet because god forbid anyone who doesn't already know finds out. There were also lots of women who were against female suffrage

334bu · 30/07/2021 07:13

Violence against women. Need for safe spaces for abused women. Not a feminist issue ? What more important feminist issues are there sailaway?

You know you don't have to read a post just because it's there?
TurquoiseBaubles · 30/07/2021 07:30

For someone who doesn't want to see "gender discussions" sailmeaway seems happy to post tell women what to think on this board Hmm

grey12 · 30/07/2021 07:44

The way things are going we need trans spaces.

Bathrooms: men/women/trans

Sports: men/women/trans

Safe houses: specific houses for trans

Prisons: men/women/trans

Problem solved

And yet despite being someone who says they don't want to have to see these discussions so yay for filing the nasty bits of reality away....

you still keep reading away and complaining on those exact threads you claim you don't want to see. Confused So apparently this and many other issues on the sex and gender board are indeed matters you think are important to feminism and want to discuss. You really can't have it both ways.

Whinginadeville · 30/07/2021 08:24

I don't think it's assault anymore they've won in Brighton. The Labour Council has withdrawn the regular funding for Rise the Women's Refuge. This loss of revenue has lead to widespread closure and laying off of staff at a time when demand increased by 900% that's not a typo BTW 900%. Rise has always welcomed Transwomen but didn't want to center them. Its hard to tie the exact reason down but it seems its the use of the word Woman in the name that has lead to the withdrawal of £5, 000,000 a year. Utterly catastrophic. You can't be woke enough to please them. Shame on Labour.

KevinBaconsJeans · 30/07/2021 08:36

@Whinginadeville think about the cost savings when women stop using all the new mixed sex services. No need for services that aren't being used. Cha-ching!

sailmeaway · 30/07/2021 09:31

@MichelleScarn. i do. I also realise that you have an entire BOARD to discuss gender issues. With like minded people, mostly. That should be a thank you to MN shouldn't it?

sailmeaway · 30/07/2021 09:39

'you still keep reading away and complaining on those exact threads you claim you don't want to see. confused .

Not true. I am interested in some gender stuff, I'm just not interested in it taking over the feminist board ALL the time by the same posters going mad whenever anyone talks about anything to do with LGBT+ issues.

And it's a discussion board, so I don't need to come on to repeat what other posters are saying, if I disagree then I disagree.

FloralBunting · 30/07/2021 09:44

This looks like it's on the Chat board, tbh. So I can understand sail being all confused. Tbh, I am not bothered if the mods want to put all the feminist discussion on the one board. It's not like it's been made private and password protected. People can still come and read and post.

Even libfems who are tres bored of the topic but can't seem to stay away, probably because Chat is fairly dead now.

My only issue would be if they moved feminist threads out of Sex and Gender if they were started there. I am completely fine with libfems having their own board to discuss the issues they think are important, and the radfems, materialist feminists and others having discussions about sex and gender.
