I'd be really grateful. I know I'm cheeky to ask, I came here thinking it would already be here.

The interview is on bbc sounds too if you want to listen. I really enjoyed it. JK gives zero fucks about what people think of her.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 28/07/2021 12:24

The Telegraph doesn’t do share tokens like the Times, and you really shouldn’t copy the whole text of an article. It’s bot fair on content creators.

Yes but in this case the text is just a rehash of the radio programme that is available for free on bbc sounds. It’s not exactly the author’s original thoughts.
WorkingItOutAsIGo · 28/07/2021 13:00

Lol that’s not how copyright law works!

TheMarzipanDildo · 28/07/2021 17:47

The interview was really lovely

rabbitwoman · 28/07/2021 18:47

I absolutely love jk Rowling.

Funnily enough, I don't rate her actual books that highly - I have only read Harry Potter and although I enjoyed them I thought they weren't that brilliantly written, the stories were a bit clunky.... But the more I hear jk speak and articulate herself and how human she is, the more I adore her.

I love the hp films, and how jkr insisted on being involved and keeping them true to her vision. I love how she feels responsible for and answerable to the fans and I reckon she would be a brilliant mate to have a laugh with too....

But I am ever frustrated by how she won't talk about the recent events. Simon Armitage is obviously a really intelligent, interesting person, but also sensitive and sensible, they could have spent five minutes just talking about what has happened.

In some ways, I think that jk has thrown a grenade in the room then ran off leaving everyone else to deal with the explosion....

But also, I bet she does loads that no one sees or hears about.... Maybe her silence is the most powerful thing.... Hmmmm....

FloralBunting · 28/07/2021 19:25

I am entirely convinced that JKR uses her fame and name to do strategic things, and her fearsome clever brain to anonymously do many other useful things. I have no doubt whatsoever that she's got an MN account too. I think she's done quite enough publicly and she's clearly not finished.

Leafstamp · 28/07/2021 20:21

I agree with you Floral.

I suspect that what she does for free speech and women’s rights in public is just the tip of the iceberg compared to what she dies anonymously/in private.

I ❤️ JKR

No, it's a cultural review/opinion piece about two different radio programmes. Definitely the journalist's original thoughts!

Anyway I'm just here to say I love JKR too and thought it was a lovely programme.

In the shed interview, she mentioned that sometimes she had written things that came to pass in her life later, I would love to ask her if one example was how Harry had to endure periods of getting smeared and insulted...

WhatyoutalkingaboutWillis · 31/07/2021 17:48

I understand that it's her birthday today so......A big, fat Happy Birthday to you JKR. So much respect!

heathspeedwell · 31/07/2021 18:18

I am genuinely jealous of anyone who hasn't read the Strike series yet.

Each book delivers so many hours of pleasure. The writing is superb and so well observed. I can't wait till the next one.

Thank you for everything you do JKR, and happy birthday!

RoyalCorgi · 31/07/2021 19:03

The Guardian has a small birthdays section every day where it lists the names of celebrities whose birthday it is.

Guess whose name has been left off the list this year?

Yes, they really are that petty.

I saw on Twitter that JKR has been included in previous years and that The Guardian’s policy is:

There is no name-removal policy at the Guardian, but from time to time people who were in the public eye for a short while and then disappeared – such as boyband members – are made “inactive” (which leaves the door open for them to reappear).

The Guardian need to explain themselves I feel!

LazyViper · 31/07/2021 19:21

The Guardian is ludicrous. She’s our most successful living writer. Petty idiots.

Ooh I'm going to get into this then! I need something to do that isn't work or bloody meal planning.

Happy birthday JKR! If you do read this then know that my DD is obsessed with HP and loved the ickabog - thank you!

As most know, I'll waffle on about Strike for hours. Well worth your time.

The Guardian, however...

Theeyeballsinthesky · 31/07/2021 19:30

The guardian really are a stroppy emo teenager in newspaper form
