“ In the absence of clear government guidance, schools may not be aware that the materials they are using represent only one side of a contentious political issue, in breach of the 1996 Education Act which prevents political indoctrination of children. Transgender and LGBT lobby groups have been given free rein to issue guidance and instigate policy change in schools, like unelected political parties. But how are teachers to know that these "experts" are misrepresenting equality law? Teachers may feel uncomfortable about mixed-sex toilets, changing-rooms, residential accommodation and sports, but without a comprehensive understanding of the Equality Act, how can they challenge it? Teachers have been put in the untenable position of having to ignore basic safeguarding in order to follow guidance recommended by their local authority.”
