Hopefully it will be recorded so we can watch when not working.

SpindleWhorl · 02/07/2021 00:12

What an impressive line-up.

Appalonia · 02/07/2021 00:19

I've watched the last 2 of these, they have been so informative. Highly recommended if anyone is free then.

Turned · 02/07/2021 10:22

Thank you. I shall watch.

AmericanSlang · 02/07/2021 12:33

I listened to the first 50 minutes or so, had to go off and do something else. It was great listening to Phoebe, Jess, Rachel etc but I really felt Emma cut Graham Linehan off at the knees - can't imagine it was time related as she then let the academic guy waffle on about Shakespeare for what seemed like half an hour. I appreciate GL is not everyone's cup of tea, but the man has lost his good name, his career & livelihood and a lot else in the name of being able to speak your mind, and I think she could have let him tell his story (otherwise why invite him on?) I only found out what was going on (about 3 years ago) because of what Graham was saying, he's done a lot for the cause of free speech and he deserved better than that.

JoodyBlue · 02/07/2021 18:53

Is there a recording of this available does anyone know?

Coatandhat · 02/07/2021 23:01

@AmericanSlang Dr. Edmondson's statement that there isn't a problem with universities shutting down free speech showed an embarrassing lack of awareness of the problem I thought. I'm not sure what he added to the meeting. Loved Phoebe Fuller and Baroness Fox though.

PatsArrow · 02/07/2021 23:24

I agree a bit, but the Baroness did a summing job of everyone at the end and what she said about GL actually brought a limo to my throat.

Claire Fox got to disagree vehemently with Shakespeare guy about Universities, also about social media - saying it wasn't a trivial thing and it was basically the public square now where it's important to be allowed to take part.

PatsArrow · 02/07/2021 23:25

Sorry I meant to say I agreed with Americanslang at the start.

AmericanSlang · 03/07/2021 05:30

PatsArrow that is great to hear, it's a shame I didn't get to listen to the end! Does anyone know if these webinars are recorded and available anywhere?
Agree with previous posts that Phoebe Fuller is a voice well worth listening to, she's so articulate and well informed

PatsArrow · 03/07/2021 09:21

Normally Baroness Nicholson posts a link to YouTube or a password protected link but there's nothing yet. I'll keep a eye out.

Mollyollydolly · 03/07/2021 13:14

Hope a link appears. I really enjoy these and missed yesterday.
