You probably need to post this to the sex and gender board. Report it to mnhq and they will shift it for you.

Mumfun · 01/07/2021 14:42

Before the balance was that being with Stonewall was no risk and looked progressive. The balance has now shifted to that being a member of the Stonewall scheme now puts you at risk - of discriminating against certain groups such as women. Also of having the law wrong which can lead to a number of issues including looking unprofessional and incompetent. Also next June I think any business signed up to Stonewall is going to look bad connected to what I think the Allison Bailey court case is going to bring into the open

JonahofArk · 01/07/2021 14:53

Because it has been found to be misrepresenting the law. I would lead with this. Have you read this article: www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/jun/06/stonewall-risks-all-it-has-fought-for-in-accusing-those-who-disagree-with-it-of-hate-speech

It is a good starting point with additional links to some cases you could give as examples.

Thank you

Was on a really good call and wanted to explain why businesses should leave stonewall.

I may have another chance yet 🤔😁

Maybe you should read the evidence for/against before forming your judgement - instead of the other way around.

It sounds like you've just got an irrational dislike of Stonewall and now you're just trying to find ways to justify that irrational reaction.

Try some introspection.

sex-matters.org/where-sex-matters/the-workplace/

Info here, might be useful.

I think the fact that govt departments have recently left would probably be a good starting point.

OhHolyJesus · 01/07/2021 16:48

Ok so so recently you have the CEO likening those who recognise biological reality to Nazi's (BBC)

There's also

Mass exodus from the diversity champion scheme and the possibility that the list SW shared misrepresents the true level of membership

The homophobic labelling of 'same gender attraction' which has seen many LGB people 'defect' to LGB Alliance which was created as Ruth Hunt, Jan Gooding and others wouldn't engage in a conversation

The creation of #NoDebate that has silenced concerned voices, initiated an undercurrent of violence and threats against those speaking up and caused division and fear in the workplace

The Reindorf report which assessed the treatment of Jo Phoenix by Essex Uni - see report in the Times and elsewhere

Their aim to reform the GRA and more importantly the EA2010, see attached.

Just off the top of my head. Google stonewall and Mumsnet for more, esp on primary schools and their objectives there...

I always find it so interesting that these sort of posts always focus upon emotional manipulation and never provide any solid facts.

Every other poster on this thread has given the OP links to articles or provided some factual information on the issues with Stonewall, and none of us have talked about our own feelings towards the organisation. So if you think we are wrong, where is your evidence?

Etorih · 01/07/2021 16:59

Lol. Misrepresenting the law to the detriment of women is hardly irrational. But I get that it makes you sad that they've been caught out. ☺️

334bu · 01/07/2021 17:06

Any organisation actively lobbying parliament to remove rights for women enshrined in the Equality Act should be given a swerve.

334bu · 01/07/2021 17:10

You might find this useful. Evidence of lobbying.

@yeahbutnaw I think you are perhaps the one that requires some introspection. Maybe look at the links above.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 01/07/2021 20:23

I believe some government departments have cited the cost as their reason for dropping Stonewall. Widely seen as the polite way of backing off!

Outbutnotoutout · 01/07/2021 22:23

Thank you, I knew you would come through with some fantastic resources.
