I'm worried that a mention of his latest email hasn't been posted here already for comment is because it isn't welcome. But it's so incredibly funny that I'm now giving him money to keep up his work. And it peaked my best friend. She loves the gender critical cat.

@Scout2016

The Friday consultation things he has been part of, with Baroness Nicolson chairing, gave been interesting too. The next one has Jess de Wahls on who was fantastically clear and sensible on Mess We're In.

His mailouts are really varied, and credit to the rest of the team who contribute too. It's the sort of journalism that should be happening elsewhere but isn't so I'm all the more glad of their work.
And the Mess We Are in and interviews are great. I'm looking forward to seeing Marion Millar's appearance. Although course she shouldn't need to be appearing to talk about what's happening to her because in a saner world it would not be happening.

I very much like the fact that he now sends out a positive email of the week on the war on women - highlights all the gains being made
Bollockstothat · 30/06/2021 13:43

Of course the TRA logic is rooted in misogyny so it makes sense that whenever a male speaks they automatically assign him the role of leader though.

Exactly. More sexist bullshit from the MRAs.

Scout2016 · 30/06/2021 13:52

Yes Defo Tesla. It used to get to me that every week the War On Women was full, sometimes with multiple entries for some days.
I really really really want to see an edition that says, for example,
"Tuesday - nothing shitty happened today, nothing to report". Just one day free of it.

So the Good News supplements not only counter that but also help me feel I'm not going mad, the tide is turning and here's the evidence. As well as celebrating all the hard work going on to push back.

@porkincider

Is that picture by Glinner? I thought it was by someone else and Glinner just often shares his work on his Substack. I’m very pleased if it is Glinner though as that means he follows me on Twitter.
It's by Mole at the Counter on Twitter. However Mole and Glinner work together closely and most the text his Glinner (and team)
bellinisurge · 30/06/2021 14:43

He does need help. He needs help from other creative people who have the guts to speak up like he does.

PatsArrow · 30/06/2021 14:46

He's neither a mascot nor a representative, that's your perception.

But there is a difference in way male allies are treated compared to women: TRAs don't threaten to rape and sexually abuse Glinner. They don't invite him to on their girl dicks or call him misogynistic names. That abuse is reserved for women.*

This is true. He far from a mascot. He's fuelled by anger and sheer bewilderment that most people are ignoring this. He's committed to shedding light on stories that no-one will touch. Being a journalist briefly in his early career he's returned to it, mainly because he's had to because no-one will pick up the worst of the stories. The simplest thing I've heard him say is that he's simply sticking up for women because that's what men should do. Some may find that old fashioned....but I'll gladly take it.

Glinner has made a choice. He may be the first to admit he may not have done it this way with hindsight but he's proud of what he's doing. He would be the first to agree that women get abusive threats much much worse than him, but he's not been without problems - loss of work. Friends, he's been sued at least twice, his wife has been threatened and doxxed and the police sent to his house.

He's also a MN'r.

GromblesOfGrimbledon · 30/06/2021 15:12

I have so much time for Glinner. He's got no skin in the game and yet he stuck his head above the parapet and spoke up, much to his own detriment. He has suffered a lot for speaking out and he could simply have kept quiet.

His substack and podcast are my go-to sources of information, particularly when life gets busy and it's difficult to keep up.

10/10 good lad.

heathspeedwell · 30/06/2021 15:18

Glinner is extremely kind, clever, funny and popular.

I can see why that would grate with people who are none of those things.

EightiesRobot · 30/06/2021 15:39

Is there a list of political issues people are allowed to care about and campaign on? I'm aware of environmentalists who spend quite a lot of time discussing the environment, socialists who talk about socialism, campaigners against corruption who talk about government corruption rather a lot. Is it just women's rights and safeguarding that people should avoid talking about more than once every few weeks without being told it's unhealthy or are there other issues too? I realise Glinner is a man and don't see him as a figurehead for women's rights but an ally and that's fine.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 30/06/2021 15:57

And yes, he trulydoesneed help - there aren't anywhere near enough male allies speaking up for women like Graham does.

Agreed

HouseOfGoldandBones · 30/06/2021 16:11

@MishyJDI

He truly does need help. So obsessed with this stuff. It's become unhealthy.
Isn't it strange the way different people view things.

I think someone who feels so passionately that women & girls should be supported in advocating for their legal rights to be maintained, should be applauded.

You feel that his supporting women & girls is obsessively unhealthy.

Appalonia · 30/06/2021 19:27

His video podcast today was excellent, as ever. It was an interview with 2 Spanish feminists talking about the violence that happened at their protests this weekend and what's happening with the proposed self id laws in Spain. Enlightening and shocking.

noneedtoexpelme · 30/06/2021 19:32

I support his Substack too and it is worth every Penny.

malloo · 30/06/2021 21:42

I like Glinner, he doesn't waste time being polite, he just tells the truth and that is very welcome. I appreciate the work he does venturing into the dark corners of the internet to shed light on some of the very unsavoury characters driving this misogynistic movement, not sure I would have the stomach for that. The Mess We're In podcasts are excellent, interesting guests, informative and often very funny. Arty and Helen are ace too - I can always be cheered up by hearing Helen laughing, very contagious Grin
