This amused me. I know not everyone agrees with @mnhq's stance a lot of the time. but I think they've usually done a very good job of hosting the debate and also keeping their business afloat, while trying to avoid the shit storm coming to their house (as it has in the past).

Message from MNHQ: Sorry all. We've been pinging this thread around the boards but we're not sure there's a place for it. We've taken it down now. OP - feel free to contact us before posting on the boards.

Good call

It amused me at first. But then I thought it was a bit shitty. Surely the place for it was "Media Requests" I'm not sure where it started, but that was the place for it - not sure why it was deleted. Bit off to (I think?) move it to any of the feminist boards - why should they be spammed with media requests when it's not allowed elsewhere?

PaleGreenGhost · 29/06/2021 11:12

Was that the heavily biased research piece?

It actually made me reconsider my opposition to the sex and gender board split off. It means that people cannot come to mumsnet and smear gender critical feminists behind their backs. Their thread will get plonked here and they will have the indignity of having their arguments scrutinised.

Beamur · 29/06/2021 11:16

I found it hard to see how that request was in good faith.

NonnyMouse1337 · 29/06/2021 11:21

What have I missed? Smile

OvaHere · 29/06/2021 11:30

I've obviously missed this one.

A researcher for a documentary thought MN was the best place to find ex gender critical feminists". Hmm

If it was genuine the person failed at the first hurdle really and MN put them out of their misery deleting the thread.

Hmm. Last I read it had a cheery mod comment that it it had been moved to media requests and best wishes for the success of the project, which appeared rather obsequious, tbh. Don't recall that being the usual response to media requests in the wrong place, but I'm open to challenge there.

It ended in media requests, and I suspect was deleted as MN probably realised that it was fake or took pity on the person and the fact that they'd come to the wrong place

I thought it was funny Blush. Someone on MN has a sense of humour.

“Let me see, here is a naive poster, not that eloquent, looking for some undefined research, covering two very different cultures and is asking for GC women who suddenly finds it totally acceptable with penises in female spaces….?

“ I know, let’s send them to the vipers in Sex & Gender.”

“Great, Will you get the popcorn?”

They obviously didn’t know the Mumsnet radicalisation portal only works one way.

Well, I think it came to the right space initially. I mean, all of our questions and comments would have made that doco a really well thought out one? I bet that they hadn’t considered all the angles we supplied….

I was disappointed to see it go really. I mean posting in the feminism section using provocative language indicating what they probably thought about ‘British feminists’ was laying your cards on the table where your bias lay.

I do think MN mods may have smiled as they pinged it around but because we had started answering, it kept coming up in our ‘I’m On!’ threads.

Drat, I'd have helped pass the popcorn round!
