There was a thread about this originally created on the FWR board (which is what this is) but mumsnet have moved it thanks to their ability to not see that a women's event is organised on the basis of what is common between women, ie their sex, and the resulting discrimination because of that.

So good to have this new thread and reminder.

It's bloody ridiculous. I've been on FWR for years obvs and now 'sex and gender' is a direct replacement and so on my 'favourite topics' now.

It's not about the 'sex and gender debate' per se but ffs what part of feminism and the fight to protect women and girls isn't related to sex and gender?!?!

Anyway.

Let's fight male violence and make a stand against violence against women and girls!

Hi Worrysaboutalot - thanks for that suggestion. I was hoping to be able to do something spontaneous depending on how my week pan's out. (and of course having been in lockdown forgetting how scandalously hight trains fares are!)

I haven't dare try the trains since I started using a wheelchair.

The thought of relying on British rail staff four times to be at the right station at the right time to help me on/off the train sounds like living hell! On top of the ridiculous high prices.

Thanks Worrysaboutalot - I can only sympathise with your fear of using trains. From a relatives experience, and a really sad / bad situation at a small station, where if other passengers hadn't assisted, a wheelchair user would have been left for over an hour hoping the next train would have a member of staff who would help, I can not imagine contemplating a journey with that worry.

From experience of using their disability support systems (not wheelchair) all went ok until a train ahead broke down, our train was terminated at a random station and we were all rerouted via another line. At that point there was nothing.

Train companies being so inclusive y'know

Far easier to paint an entire train in rainbow colours.

I don't know!

The colours are green, purple and white. The shades roughly from the flier but I can't be more accurate than that sorry!
