She gets it all in there - wrong side of history, protected beliefs under the Equality Act, beardy blokes performativily berating women (she didn’t mention beardy - that’s my addition), Puritanism.

What fab read!

I just thought I’d share what he’s written, the Mumford & Sons band member, as he’s been mentioned.

I know it's veering a bit off topic but I just find that incredibly sad. At one point he even says "I didn't want [bandmates] to suffer for my actions".

Suffer for his actions! He didn't kill anybody, he read a book! And sent a Tweet! And here we are, months later, and the heat on him (and the band he's part of just by association of even knowing the guy) is still so intense he's had to quit and bash out 1000 words of self-flagellating penance as he goes. It still won't be enough. Why?!

Who are the people who think this is okay?

I think what's important for Hadley is she can show she's worked with colleagues and columnists with diametrically opposed views on both the trans issue and, generally, Israel at the Graun yet hasn't flounced, cut off colleagues with said views etc.

She must know she could probably seek asylum at the Speccie if it ever got too much but I applaud her efforts to prevent the Guardian becoming (even more of) an echo chamber.

Yes Freespeecher. It takes courage to stay.
