Ekofisk · 25/06/2021 12:39

The Law Society has amended its template policy on gender identity to acknowledge that single sex spaces in law firms may be permissible, and to remove the automatic right for people to use the toilets and changing rooms of their choice.

Interesting!

Good to hear.

'"The general tenor of the policy in recognising that transitioning staff need to be treated with dignity and respect, and given every reasonable assistance in their transition, is laudable", said the lawyer.

"This does not however require the full acceptance of gender identity theory which is evident in the policy", they said. "In failing to reflect that many people do not share that belief (and are protected in law from discrimination for so doing), the policy risks causing unlawful discrimination by any firm or lawyer that adopts it."'

Absolutely. 'Gender identity theory' needs to be clearly recognised as one that not everyone buys into, believes or is required to believe/agree with.

Good.

"Law Society clocks on that they may have been giving out illegal advice"

Could be a useful resource for anyone who wants to challenge their own workplace policies?

Great.

Is common sense finally back from its long, looooong holiday? Shock

highame · 25/06/2021 13:07

This is really thrilling news, glad I came back on. Only here because I've just spend loads of cash on some art inks and needed consolation.

Wow, the law finally becomes clear. Maya you are a star Star and it wasn't even a landmark ruling, just a clear understanding of the EA

Redshoeblueshoe · 25/06/2021 13:07

Brilliant

happydappy2 · 25/06/2021 13:07

Brilliant news, how can prisons justify their policy of keeping women in mixed sex prisons? Its untenable

PurpleHoodie · 25/06/2021 13:07

Round the world trip yourhair.

yourhairiswinterfire · 25/06/2021 13:08

@PurpleHoodie

Round the world trip yourhair.
Think we should confiscate its passport...Grin
highame · 25/06/2021 13:09

Scales finally falling from eyes. I wonder when that prison judgement will appear happydappy

TiltTopTable · 25/06/2021 13:10

Good news!

AlfonsoTheMango · 25/06/2021 13:10

That is fabulous news.

Thank you, Maya Forstater, for having the courage to stand up to TRAs.

PurpleHoodie · 25/06/2021 13:11

On that point happydappy, the Geneva Convention condemns POWs from being held in mixed-sex prisons.

I wonder how this squares with civil prisons?

Do any solicitors/Barristers here have any legal insights regarding mixed-sex prisons? (Dont want to derail this thread. A quick link or two, or a new thread would help)

Sexnotgender · 25/06/2021 13:12

That’s an excellent statement. Gender identity theory really is exactly that.

Delighted to see a bit of common sense/arse covering.

happydappy2 · 25/06/2021 13:43

purplehoodie UN Human Rights also states women prisoners should be kept separate to men….so what is happening is cruel & inhumane treatment of women prisoners. Mens prisons single sex, womens mixed sex.

PurpleHoodie · 25/06/2021 14:04

Thanks happy.

FlyPassed · 26/06/2021 08:43

Slight tangent but i really wish that people who have gone along with the concept of gender identity would look into what it actually is and where it came from. This book is excellent

Spending money on art inks is an excellent decision Highame. They will provide hours of pleasure and if they come in those pretty illustrated boxes then you can also enjoy them when the ink itself has all gone. I did (although TBH I am old and slightly deranged).

Also excellent that the Law Soc has remembered what the law is.

Very good point.
timeisnotaline · 27/06/2021 01:43

Did the law society work with stonewall or just generally get caught up in wokeness?
