So, they've renamed us Sex and Gender Debate (FFS).

But look, the URL of this section is www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights

So, we're basically the same section that was Feminism Chat before, (And FWR before that? Can anyone remember?)

And, this section is actually Women's Rights. Has been all along, no matter how many times they rename it.

It really should be called Women's Sex-Based Rights now, though, don't you think? Sex and gender debate is a shit name.

Yep, feminism chat was the fwr address when you hovered. Sex and gender is the same.

AmIPeriOrAreYouJustAnnoying · 21/06/2021 19:42

Yep agree it should be called Women's Sex Based Rights 👍

UhtredRagnarson · 21/06/2021 19:43

@Cheshirewife

Meh. Afraid 99% of us just don’t really care.
So? The rest of us do- what’s your point?
PurpleWh1teGreen · 21/06/2021 19:53

@stumbledin

Well I mainly post about women's sex based rights and dont debate with gender as I dont believe its real. So I think I will continue to post in Feminism Chat, as feminism is about women's sex based rights.

This board should be left to those who think there is a debate about gender as having the same reality as sex.

Also have just found out there isn't an option on the advance search function to search the Feminist sub section sex and gender debate.

That's where I am too. I've no interest or strong feelings about gender. I'm here to discuss women's rights and to work collectively towards improving them.
Frenchfancy · 21/06/2021 19:54

I'm wondering why "debate" is in the title, after all we can't really debate without breaking the rules and getting deleted.

So all we can do is chat like good little girls.

MarshaBradyo · 21/06/2021 19:55

Nonsense name I agree

Women’s rights is what I want to talk about

Veeta · 21/06/2021 19:58

Did you take a poll? I’m a lurker on these threads mainly but I think a lot of people who use the rest of the site also lurk here. And I care. I missed your poll.

Frenchfancy · 21/06/2021 19:59

@cheshirewife 99%don't care about the the name or don't care about feminism or sex based rights?

I think you are wrong there. People may not call themselves feminists but way more than 1% care about women's rights. Way more than 1% care about women's sports and women's safe spaces.

Veeta · 21/06/2021 19:59

My post was supposed to reply to Cheshire wife. You can tell how much I post as I failed.

Crockof · 21/06/2021 20:01

Mumsnet have sacrificed a lot to allow the discussion. I am interested to know what has changed. I am very grateful to MN, even with the separation we still have a place to discuss what matters. We just need to make sure we post so that this board is active.

ArabellaScott · 21/06/2021 20:01

@BernardBlackMissesLangCleg

MNHQ don't actually like their users very much do they?
We seem to be an inconvenience, yep.
LizzieSiddal · 21/06/2021 20:05

I too find it infuriatingly difficult to switch between he two topics. Surely @MNHQ could make this a one step process?

AdjustableAssholeSettings · 21/06/2021 20:10

I saw this in active threads, at a glance I wondered why Women's Rights was in Style and Beauty Blush

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 21/06/2021 20:18

Came back to find the board gone/renamed. Only found it because the name had changed on my watch list.

Is this along the lines of 'unless your feminism is "intersectional", you're not a feminist?

WTF!

stumbledin · 21/06/2021 21:08

Veeta - no there wasn't a poll. I did suggest they should do a survey.

It is all very odd. Suggested on a totallly different part of mumsnet.

Raised as an issue on what was FWR.

Majoirty against.

And then they just did it.

No announcement, not even a user friendly comment saying you will have noticed some changes, these are ...

I think it is this high hand attitude more than anything.

Why would any professional organisation act like that?

Either they think we are so dependent we will just go where ever we are told, or that they dont care that we might not like it. Sad
