I do not see the reason for this AT ALL.

It's given me the absolute rage

Inaccurate.

Everyone who has a uterus and ovaries cannot give birth. For a start post menopausal women and pre pubescent girls.

The constant stating of biologically incompetent statements like this is really getting on my tits.

Also. If penis people could get pregnant would there really be such a fuss about drinking in pregnancy? Would the WHO say no penis people can drink from puberty to death?

AnyOldPrion · 20/06/2021 19:27

“Gender doesn’t determine who can become pregnant.”

Well no, that would be sex. Which is a perfect demonstration of the reason why attempting to group people by “gender” is a pointless exercise.

titchy · 20/06/2021 19:36

It sounds as if they're implying that trans men are more likely to have a child with FASD.... which probably wasn't the look they were aiming for. Maybe point that out to them?

Erikrie · 20/06/2021 19:44

Not every person can get pregnant but only women can get pregnant.

CardinalLolzy · 20/06/2021 20:05

I agree with their sentence in yellow. I disagree with their factually inaccurate statement about everyone with a uterus can get pregnant. And surely everyone knows gender has nothing to do with which bodies could become pregnant, so that's a blatant straw man.
But I assume this is intended as a "well, actually" subtweet re the WHO recent nonsense, a point they feel they have to make.

Soubriquet · 20/06/2021 20:06

I really want to face palm this

Tibtom · 20/06/2021 20:12

Presumbly WHO will be amending their advice to tell men they shouldn't drink until they are in their 50s too?

Tibtom · 20/06/2021 20:15

Hirsute women with bilateral mastectomies can get pregnant too.

NiceGerbil · 20/06/2021 20:48

If the transman is on testosterone etc then I don't think much is known about the effect on the foetus is there?

NiceGerbil · 20/06/2021 20:51

That makes it sound like he's dead!.
And history is depressing I remember a lot of it Grin

I saw him at a fuck the DUP march. He's very tall. Just as an off the point fact. Or maybe he looked tall cos it was a women's march there weren't many blokes there.

Exactly, employ word salad and you can get away with anything. The people who do this know it.
Gender is a social ideology, biological sex is immutable.

EastWestWhosBest · 20/06/2021 21:55

Ok. I’ve read it three times and I don’t see the point. Surely if you are a person who has a uterus and ovaries and could potentially become pregnant, you know that. You don’t need this to tell you. It’s nothing but virtue signalling.

delilabell · 20/06/2021 22:12

It just seems completely unnecessary to me. Just like they're jumping on the bandwagon so to speak.

I can see it being about the response to WHO and alcohol recommendations. But how many pregnant trans men/non binary non identifying women get pregnant and think I know alcohol is dangerous for women. But I’m not a pregnant woman so no drinking in pregnancy isn’t something I need to worry about. Slim I think. Maybe as a charity they have to tick boxes for inclusivity funding and this is a golden opportunity for that and they went for it.

NiceGerbil · 20/06/2021 23:08

Very unlikely IMO this is a response to the WHO.

it's a nice thought but I can't see it at all.

Quite so.
GNCQ · 20/06/2021 23:44

Why can't they say "adult females of all gender identities could get pregnant". It's like the word female is taboo.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 21/06/2021 14:56
