The Equality Act applies across many different areas, not just employment law. Service providers, unions, political parties – all have to comply.

Let’s have a list of the ways in which gender critical women have been treated that are now unlawful. I’ll go first:

• Venue owners who cancel bookings from gender critical groups are now legally the same as Pontins when they cancelled a load of bookings from presumed Travellers.

• The Labour CLPs that threw out women for having gender critical views are now legally the same as the Labour CLPs that refused to process applications from Jewish people.

• Cafes that display signs saying “No TERFS” are now legally the same as cafes that display signs saying “No blacks, dogs or Irish”.

I have no examples to add, but this is such a great point!

Would sending gender critical people (or even just gender identity non-believers) to such training be counted as creating a hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment?

As an atheist, I cannot be compelled to attend church or any other religious service so I assume I could not be compelled to attend SW training.

I am really hoping for an action against a university for allowing a hostile environment for gender critical feminist staff and students.

Forcing someone to sit through something that goes against their philosophical beliefs sounds suspiciously like conversion therapy to me.

Does Mumsnet have to undo a few bannings?

That we can't be compelled to state our pronouns verbally or in an email signature?

Insist on HR systems accurately recording our sex and not gender?

Not having to wear rainbow clothing in Pride month?

Any organisation / political party etc that has a Transphobia policy will need to look at it very carefully.

Schools / orgs will need to check their trans inclusion policies equally carefully.

Having said that, sex is a protected characteristic, and that seems to be ignored by pretty much everybody

Me too. I suggest the University of Edinburgh, although I recognise it’s a very crowded field.

Probably because of POMO type philosophy.

It won't be possible to use pronoun rounds as a way of outing GC women.

In fact, if there's any suspicion that the pronoun round might lead to any adverse treatment of those not participating, then it'll be discriminatory.

Just as if you had a workplace prayer meeting which everyone was 'encouraged' to attend.

I think it might be more that some people apparently hold the philosophical belief that science is just one of many equally valid or invalid ways of knowing. So then scientific fact and material reality can be framed as a 'belief'. Or something. (I bet they somehow still don't jump out of tenth floor windows and do know the possible consequences of sex between a man and a woman)

Also....will those of us suffering employment formal procedures for saying 'TWANW' be able to reasonably apply to have disciplinary measures rescinded? We didn't break any law.

Or better still ask for compensation because the company broke the law in discriminating against you...
