Do they really think the likes of Pink News readers will buy their handbags?
I don't think they've realised what a can of worms they've opened.k

Who is buying Radley bags now?

They were OK about 15 years ago when the scotty dog was cute but they have been over for so long. And I'm not even a S+B bag obsessive.

Who is buying Radley bags now?

Are they in financial trouble?

teezletangler · 31/05/2021 22:34

I thought you were talking about the College and this was going to be another "Eton gone woke"!

Do people actually buy this crap? Do they not see through all this corporate Pride stuff? It's so blatant.

weebarra · 31/05/2021 22:37

Oh arse. I know they're a bit marmite on here but I've got a few I bought when I went through a bit of a phase years ago. My very ancient work bag is a radley. Won't be buying again.

Nat6999 · 31/05/2021 23:26

I've got two Radley cross body bags, had them years, I love them, doesn't matter how battered they get, a spray of leather polish & they look like new.

Cheshirewife · 31/05/2021 23:27

Good on Radley. And unsurprised to see the usual homophobes out in force here.

Mollyollydolly · 31/05/2021 23:48

I didn't have an opinion on Pride until after LGB Alliance formed. Various pride associations were very vocal when they got charitable status. Vile and insulting to LGBA so I've got no time for them either now. Just as bad as Stonewall.

Who are the homophobes here, @Cheshirewife? I am interested to know.

ArrrMeHearties if you don't mind expensive bags, then have a look at Elvis & Kresse bags. They are absolute top of my wish list, if I ever had serious cash to spend on something like that.

ArrrMeHearties · 01/06/2021 09:59

archeryannie it's not so much an expensive bag I'm looking for more I never treat myself so wanted to buy something nice for me for a change

Remember how all the other civil rights movements had massive corporate partnerships and branding across the entire FMCG sector? You couldn't move for ubiquitous straplines about a woman's right to choose on your cornflakes or a call to action to oppose child marriage on your trainers. That's how you know a movement is truly serving the oppressed, innit, when the global marketing and branding opportunities appeal to all the industry giants and household consumer names. Because they can always be relied upon to champion the oppressed and forego their own bottom line, bless em. It's not like they're driven by profit, the cheeky do-gooder scamps.

It's £109! For a canvas beach bag. White on the outside so it will show dirt easily, although it's reversible so the colourful pattern could be on the outside instead. Not that they've bothered to show a photo of that. Most bizarre.

But where does it say it's related to Pride or Stonewall? Apart from the word 'Pride' in the name there's no mention of it on the page. And that blog post is from last year.

A lot of people are now against corporate 'rainbow washing' but it looks like a lot of companies haven't cottoned on to that. As for M&S, never mind the changing rooms, does anyone remember the LBGT sandwich a few years ago? Lettuce, Bacon, Guacamole and Tomato.

MidClrgs · 02/06/2021 09:22

Perhaps Pink News are telling porkies...?

And I suspect it takes a while to take a design and turn it into a product even if the blog is from last year.

I don't see Pride as functionally different from groups like Stonewall. I'm not in the UK, various Pride groups across the country here have outright attempted to suppress views they don't like. Mainly threatening libraries who rent out rooms to people they don't like, or have books they don't like. They're completely corrupt IMO.
