Sonia Appleby raising questions about the Tavi's child safeguarding

Not sure if we're allowed to discuss matters pertaining to child safeguarding on here anymore, after MNHQ deleted my other thread about it. I've asked for clarification.

Sonia Appleby is one of the whistleblowers who has raised very serious concerns around the processes at this NHS clinic which provides services to children. One of her allegations is that her colleagues were instructed not to bring safeguarding concerns to her, although she was in the post of safeguarding children lead for the trust.

Does anyone have any idea of when this case might be heard? Or any thoughts about it?

I daren't even put the link to the BBC News article in my OP for fear of it being misconstrued as a 'fundraising thread', but I know you can find more information about the case if you search 'Sonia Appleby Tavistock', should you want to. ThanksDaffodilThanks

PearPickingPorky · 13/06/2021 20:17

Her hearing is tomorrow? Fuck, these are all coming around quickly.

Good luck, Sonia.

It’s today! A little more digging to do a just a smidge if anyone is in the garden.

highame · 14/06/2021 08:28

This case is scheduled for 9 days, so I wonder if we'll get an end of the day update?

Terranean · 14/06/2021 08:35

I wish I could dig more for Sonia Appleby! Any helpers.

NotBadConsidering · 14/06/2021 08:44

This is such a big case. If it’s true that staff were concerned about children being abused, and those concerns were not followed up because they were told not to talk to Sonia, that takes this scandal to a whole new level.

highame · 14/06/2021 08:56

If you look at Stonewall Law and its implementation, then you can understand how this could have happened. Good luck Sonia

NonnyMouse1337 · 14/06/2021 09:08

Good luck to her. Hopefully there will be some updates over the course of the hearing. I had no idea it was scheduled for 9 days!

Couchbettato · 14/06/2021 09:42

I too shall be waiting with baited breath for an end of day update.

I wish I had the money to donate.

Will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

"Unlikely evidence will start today because members of tribunal need time to read through bundle"

Surprise surprise, accusations of transphobia...

AP quotes from another transcript of interview with Tavi manager which says that there were “concerns” about claimant’s “approach” to GIDS cases. Transcript says “some may have felt it was a bit transphobic.” AP makes argument that SA’s team needs to know identity of manager.

Do we know if there will be a decision at the end of the 9 days of the hearing? Or will the judgement be 'reserved'?

Keeping everything crossed for SA - this is such an important case

TedImgoingmad · 14/06/2021 11:08

Donated and wishing good luck to Sonia.

I think often the judges don't know until the end as it depends on what comes out during the hearing and how much time it will take the judge to consider.

Thanks for the explanation about the judgement PearPickingPorky :)

gailforce1 · 14/06/2021 12:32

Daily Mail have just put this on line and have linked it to Keira Bell's account of her treatment at the Tavi. Watching with interest to see what, if any, comments are posted.
