Taking on the good fight in America

I'm a Brit living in a very woke city in the States. I've come very late to the battle on sex-based rights (JK Rowling passed me by, Keira Bell passed me by) but am here now and really angry about it all. My question is, What I can do? In the UK, you have so many fantastic organizations and individuals fighting to stop gender inculcation in schools, and protect single-sex spaces and activities. What are their equivalents in the USA? With kids in the public school system, I'm particularly worried about how these ideas are being taught in schools. Does anyone know any American organizations that I could join? (Please tell me a. they exist and b. they're not all Republican)

Save Women Sports is doing some great work, is Partners for Ethical Care US based? I've seen them protesting out US hospitals where double mastectomies are performed on young teenage girls.

WOLF is another good one.

Posie Parker at Standing for Women is a special advisor to WOLF.

Personally I think optical affiliation goes out the window when children's safety is concerned but I understand your reservations. Those are all I can't think of, someone wiser will be along in a bit to help more I'm sure.

Check out WoLF - that's probably your best bet.

And Abigail Shrier's book Irreversible Damage is US-focused. Get hold of a copy of that for a US perspective.

I suggest the LGB Alliance. They work for Lesbian & Gay rights, but here in the UK many of us see the banding together for the sake of women and girls rights as being paramount importance. On this board, we have a huge spectrum of political opinions but we all agree on the major importance of women's rights. The rest can sort itself out when we have moved TRA off our lawns

RoyalCorgi · 26/05/2021 16:35

It's a tough one, OP, because in the UK most of the orgs fighting for women's rights lean to the left, but as far as I can tell all the US ones are right-wing. And the problem with allying yourself with them is that the liberal left can then dismiss your arguments without consideration. In the US, you do need moderate to leftish people to be on side to win this argument.

You may have to start your own Resisters group or similar. LGB Alliance welcomes straight allies.

OP, suggest you buy the next copy of Radical Notion 💐

Dr. Jane Clare Jones @janeclarejones
Dear American sisters...

The next issue of @radical_notion is going to focus on the situation in the US, and we'd like to ask for some specific contributions.

Hi OP, I've been moderated in many online US Facebook groups whenever I gently bring up the topic and due to my work, I have to be careful. I don't know of a US equivalent to MN, but ovarit.com has a large US presence. Please let me know if you find anything!!!

Thanks all for this. I've signed up to learn more about WoLF, which seems to focus on single sex spaces and sports.

Also looked at Partners for Ethical Care, which is American (based in Chicago):
www.partnersforethicalcare.com/what-we-offer
and have a fabulous mission statement:
"Our mission is to raise awareness and support efforts to stop the unethical treatment of children by schools, hospitals, and mental and medical healthcare providers under the duplicitous banner of gender identity affirmation. We believe that no child is born in the wrong body."

I would also be happy to support the LGB alliance (I'm straight but the merging of sexuality and gender identity makes me furious - so illogical and regressive, and the medicalization of young gay kids is unconscionable) but I thought it was a UK organization?

What is a Resisters group?

The Woman's Human Right's Campaign (WHRC) U.S chapter is a good organisation, they do a lot of seminars.

womensdeclaration.com/en/about/

Ex ACLU lawyer, Kara Dansky works for them, she is not right wing at all. However, she does work with conservative women for the GC cause:

www.karadansky.com/about

"You Kiddin' Right", GC Youtube channel run by Karen Davis (hope I got the right surname) a GC musician. She has interviewed the LGB Alliance leaders recently and Kara Dansky, and does some great, passionate commentary on the movement is general.

Benjamin Boyce's Youtube channel is really good, he's interviewed many of the main players in the GC movement stateside.
