Finchley Road misogyny ignored

Anyone else struck by the lack of acknowledgement of the blatant misogyny evident in the awful anti-semitic abuse shouted out on Finchley Road, London? No doubt this was religiously motivated and an awful hate crime for that alone. But I find it very telling that the media have ignored the casual but very deep misogyny in calling for the rape of female Jews to make the point. Speaks volumes about how the perpetrators see women as well as Jews. And yet, in a time when we keep being told violence towards women will not be tolerated, not one single MP or media outlet has commented on the incitement to sexual violence towards women in addition to the antisemitism.Sad

Misogyny seems to be the one constant.

This says four men have been changed with racially-aggravated public order offences. They were also arrested for doing similar in Manchester. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57156047

As the Misogyny is Hate campaign has highlighted, there is no such thing as misogyny-aggravated public order offences.

Is / could incitement to rape be an actual crime in England and Wales? I'd like to see some bloody charges, from these horrible men screaming at and about Jewish women and girls in London and Manchester to the horrible men making threats of rape online.

'Threats to kill' is an offence I've heard of. What about 'threat or threats to rape' or 'incitement to rape'?

No I don't think there's a law and I'm confused.

Men do this shit all the time.

How many comedians have made rape 'jokes' on the telly.
How many men laugh about it in the pub.
How much porn references/ depicts rape.
What does the attitudes survey year after year say about 'asking for it'.
How many women and girls see no justice.
How many girls are being raped in schools.
Etc etc.

It's not a race thing.

It's a man thing. As far as I'm concerned.

Hoping this is a sign that the WH production team keep an eye on these boards... Keep reading, WH!

(Julie is such a great, clear speaker.)

Thanks for highlighting this. And yes, it's why I was doubly apoplectic this week.
