Sex Matters together with Transgender Trend have published Boys and Girls and the Equality Act - guidance for schools.

Now they need your help to get it into the hands of headteachers, teachers, school governors and education authorities, and to get them to sign up for updates.

They will be sending the guidance out to schools and local education authorities, but if it comes from parents with a local, personal recommendation that will really help to get attention.

1. Download the guidance
2. Email it (or print it out and give it in) to the head teacher of your child's school, or the school where you work
3. Email it to the school governors
4. Email it to your local education authority Head of Education and Chair of the Education Committee
5. Click on the orange button and tell us who you have sent it to

This is good! I previously contacted our local council about the nonsense wording of their school admissions form and they changed it within a few days

I have delayed contacting my DCs schools (not woke) until I had something like this.

Interestingly in their list of protected characteristics, it used to read gender, and when I looked again yesterday - it now says sex - but in the alphabetical order of gender, so it was definitely gender before. It’s very encouraging to me that someone else (parent/teacher?) has got to them too!

Planning to do this, I received an email from them this morning

I’d like to do this but might wait until my school has finished dealing with the mountain of work that’s involved in running and marking the assessment ‘exams’ that are going on up here at the moment (Scotland) I want it to have a fighting chance of being looked at.

Great idea though as it’s good to know who has sent what where.

I'm so pleased and relieved to see that this has been produced and will be being sent to schools. I will be doing this.
