LGB Alliance has taken out an ad in the The Herald to explain “what is a lesbian”.

Hopefully this will be a timely reminder for voters on Thursday?

I saw one of the Twitter replies made reference to a 1999 US publication on lesbian women’s health as some kind of gender ID gotcha.

I skimmed it and just thought wasn’t it so much simpler when “woman” just so clearly meant adult human female.

They don't shy away from the truth do they?!

Glad to see some bravery and commitment from the Herald.

That particular complaint doesn’t surprise me at all.

How long till the Herald bow down, claim ignorance (we didn't know what we were printing, honest guv) and promise never to entertain the LGBA again?

Hopefully never, but it's like a script these days....

The Herald really should publish a full page apology tomorrow - stating that after communication from QWERTY organisations they recognise that the advert was wrong and men can be lesbians if they want to be. And that women can be gay men too. And that it is transphobic for a gay man to turn down sex with a transman just because they were assigned female at birth.

I think we're absolutely fucked wrt to election but we need to keep making the conversation happen.

Which part of their code of conduct does it breach? Sex and sexual orientation are both separate from gender reassignment and the LGBA's statement is in line with the EA2010 definitions.

I've seen quite a lot of the Twitler Youth (and the grownups who should know better) up in arms about this. Contacting charity commission etc...

AFAIK a charity can undertake political activities in support of its aims, as long as that’s not its sole reason to exist.
