Lord Lucas On Twitter Regarding Male Crimes Being Recorded As Female

yourhairiswinterfire · 29/04/2021 10:12

Has anyone seen this? This is his Twitter thread.

Ralph Lucas
@LordLucasCD
I asked: To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans, if any, they have for the police in England and Wales to follow the reported approach of Police Scotland of recording male perpetrators of rape or attempted rape who self-identify as female, as female on relevant police systems

(HL15056)
Tabled on: 19 April 2021
Baroness Williams of Trafford
They replied: The Government takes all forms of sexual violence extremely seriously, regardless of between who it takes place or the profile of the perpetrator. Whether it is committed by a woman or a man, sexual violence in any situation, is completely unacceptable.

A total of 162,936 sexual offences were recorded by the police in England and Wales in the year ending March 2020.
More details on the prevalence of sexual offences can be found at www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/sexualoffencesprevalenceandtrendsenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2020

It is an operational matter for the police to determine what relevant information should be recorded to assist in their investigation of individual crimes.

Home Office statisticians work with the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) on the quality of data from the police. The OSR have issued guidance on the collection and reporting of data about sex in official statistics which informs on-going conversations the Department has with policing partners on the issue of data:
osr.statisticsauthority.gov.uk/publication/draft-guidance-collecting-and-reporting-data-about-sex-in-official-statistics/

I read this advice as "Parliament, specify in legislation what you mean by sex at any time when you want data collected, or accept whatever garbage you are given."

Amendments to the Police etc Bill will be forthcoming.

Still fudging the issue it seems...

Helleofabore · 29/04/2021 11:15

That comes across as an uncomfortable fence to sit on as a policy doesn't it? Lord Lucas is doing some great stuff.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 29/04/2021 11:27

Lucas is to be commended for raising this matter.

yourhairiswinterfire · 29/04/2021 11:36

How is it not unlawful to record criminals based on self id, when self id was shelved and is not the law here? It's madness.

Happens in Scotland

Crimes recorded in whatever of the many genders you want to be

Crime statistics

Who gives a fuck

Mollyollydolly · 29/04/2021 11:47

I see they never answered Ralph's question. I'm sure he'll stick with it.

UppityPuppity · 29/04/2021 17:27

By definition the sex of the suspect/offender should always be an operational matter - especially when the sex of the suspect/offender is used to commit the crime in the first place.

I see they never answered Ralph's question. I'm sure he'll stick with it.

Yes - he’s a good egg.

Happens in England as well- I questioned the ONS on some of their stats on crime and they said its all dependent on what the local police force gives them and a whole load of them record declared gender not sex.

Wonder if it could be taken to a judicial review? Have any groups like FPFW or KPSS ever said whether a JR is possible or not?

Or is recording false information about criminals legal?

I'd say he's bang on the money there. Thank you again, Lord Lucas. There's no silencing you.

Good man. I've given up being amazed that Tories and the House of Lords are the main supporters of women's rights these days. I'm starting to realise how shallow the supports from the left always was.

Clymene · 29/04/2021 19:26

It really is astounding when you think of it: criminals who are legally men are allowed to declare themselves women and good old plod dutifully records that.

I know they record people as being on a scale from IC1-6 to designate ethnicity. I'm guessing they don't ask criminals their heritage or ask them where they identify - they just take a look at them/ have a chat and take a punt.

It's just a fucking joke that they take a criminal's lead when it comes to sex. If I were arrested, I think I'd say I was a bloke for the lols

Seconded.

Thirded.

Well done, comrades, that's the five year plan wrapped up. What's that, you say, Jeanette? No mention anywhere of women's rights? Oh dear. Well, the thing is, we have so many competing priorities. Once we're back in power, we'll be able to turn our attention to these very important issues, but we can't dilute our focus too much at the moment. Anyway, thirsty work! Could you put the kettle on, Jeanette? Mine's a tea with two sugars.

Clymene · 29/04/2021 20:10

And fourthed!

I have waste so much of my life propping up the Left too.
