Yes, it's not "fear of the unknown" that drives us. Women know exactly what men do to them.

persistentwoman · 24/04/2021 16:58

Yet another good read. So many powerful articles around.

Cabinfever10 · 24/04/2021 17:36

I really hope people are listening

Nice one 💪💪

It's really interesting the way the Scottish Elections seem to be making people lay out their cards on the table. Very useful.

PrawnofthePatriarchy · 24/04/2021 18:08

It really is an excellent article. Thanks for the link.

"My name is Susan Dalgety, and I am a feminist. I believe that human beings are born with either male or female sex gametes (egg cells for women, sperm for men). "

Actually, sperm production doesn't start until puberty. I mean if you can't get even the most basic biological facts right in your opening sentence, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the article.

The opening sentence is "My name is Susan Dalgety, and I am a feminist.".

What facts did she get incorrect there?

CardinalLolzy · 24/04/2021 18:23

I mean, if you can't even get the basic facts right....

Transphobes aren't actually feminists, so there's that.

Thelnebriati · 24/04/2021 18:29

If you support rapists being placed in women's prisons, but you want to get picky over the wording of this article, do crack on.

OldCrone · 24/04/2021 18:30

And men aren't actually women.

Does she say she's a transphobe? As you believe that everyone is who they say they are, if she didn't say she's a transphobe she isn't one, and if she says she's a feminist, she's a feminist.

adviceseekingnamechanger · 24/04/2021 18:35

She identifies as a feminist.

Why does identifying as something only work for some people? Mystery.

I support women being sent to women's prisons. Some women are trans.

Did you not understand my question? What fact did she get incorrect? You are asserting as fact that this woman is categorically not something she claims to be?

It's not good arguing about the feminism barb, the key thing here is that she doesn't even know that sperm production doesn't start until puberty.
CardinalLolzy · 24/04/2021 18:47

But you said "if you can't get even the most basic biological facts right in your opening sentence, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the article."

What biological fact did you mean when you said this?

midgedude · 24/04/2021 18:49

Ah you are accusing her of transphobia simply because she knows the difference between man and woman and isn't afraid to say so?

And You are accusing her of lying because she states she is a feminist and you think that is incompatible with knowing what female is?

Tibtom · 24/04/2021 18:49

Yes we all recognise that transmen are women and should be housed in women's prisons.

CardinalLolzy · 24/04/2021 18:49

Was it her name or her political views that you think are an incorrect biological fact?

Do you understand why what you say often sounds muddled and in need of clear talking through your logic? Yet you refuse to answer questions asking for clarification on what you actually think and your reasoning for thinking it.

Immunetypegoblin · 24/04/2021 18:52

This has raised a genuine query for me. I presume there are some females out there who have committed violent sexual assault against other females, and who have been incarcerated in the female estate as a result. I think the number of such females will be vanishing small but let's put that aside for a moment. My question is, what protective measures, if any, are taken to protect other female inmates from this one female convict with a history of sexual violence against their sex class? Are the same protective measures meant to be in place to protect female inmates from male convicts, with a history of sexual violence against females, who happen to identify as female?

I've never thought about this before but would have thought surely females likely to assault other female prisoners would be segregated from the population somehow. Surely Confused

Thelnebriati · 24/04/2021 18:59

Karen White was allowed to sexually assault 4 female inmates.
Facilitating a rapist to access victims constitutes inhumane punishment and is a human rights violation.

But its only women prisoners, so who cares.

You are born with the latent ability to produce sperm, or you are not. It really is that simple. It's a basic biological fact. You need a brush up on these basic facts you like to argue so much.
OldCrone · 24/04/2021 19:01

She knows that only men produce sperm though. Which means she is much better informed than someone who thinks that women can have penises.
