The enclosed has been posted on Twitter, obviously they are going to get crap from the TRAs.

I've tweeted a message of support and made a small donation, I thought others might want to do the same or to email with support.

Ah it must be something else, twitter told me something

It's potentially a racist attitude, as women from certain culture and religions could be unable to access services if a transwoman works there and has patient facing roles, as the EA lays out.

It's ok skyliner, I'll put in extra on your behalf.

334bu · 25/04/2021 07:21

Thanks for bringing this charity to our attention.

NutellaEllaElla · 25/04/2021 07:40

Very good, I will donate to them. Hopefully they won't end up with a dead rat nailed to their door...

FrancesGumm · 25/04/2021 07:51

Thanks for this thread - I will donate - always looking for ‘women’ women charities to donate to ...

EyesOpening · 25/04/2021 08:15

Thanks OP for bringing this to our attention, have donated too, looks like they’ve had quite a boost to their funds

VoluminousVagina · 25/04/2021 08:43

@yourhairiswinterfire

As a result of twitter, a transactivist has actually got around to reading the Equality Act 2010, and they're horrified.

''The equality act needs to change''.

So in other words, ''we need to remove the law that allows abused women and their likely traumatised young children access to female only safe spaces and support services''.

Nice.

This bears repeating - it speaks volumes about the focus and priorities of the groups campaigning to get the law changed in this way.

Stonewall, Lord Michael Cashman, Baroness Ruth Hunt, The entire Labour Party (except Rosie Duffield), the entire Liberal Democrat Party, Women’s Equality Party, the SNP (have already changed their laws to the detriment of women), many but crucially not all Conservative MPs, the BBC, the ONS, google, many LGBT organisations are ALL lobbying for (or supporting the lobbying) a change in the law that will prevent abused women and their traumatised children access to female on safe spaces and services.

Let’s just have a think about that for a minute.

“The Equality Act needs to change”

The question I have for that person is, as they have pointed out seven charities which will help Trans women and non binary people, why do they need to have access to spaces set up specifically for women?

This thread has made me pootle around all the Isle of Wight info and local news I can find (went there on a holiday in 2019 and was hoping to return this year).

I found this, in case anyone is interested in nominating Wight-DASH.

BlueLobelia · 25/04/2021 15:18

Oh just saw it is for local people only to nominate. Blush

Anyway link is there for any Isle of Wight lurkers and posters.

Helleofabore · 26/04/2021 09:16

Needs a bump again I feel.

Terranean · 26/04/2021 11:06

This type of charities are like endangered species!
What’s all the be kind talk has gone?
I have donated to Maya Forstater and Ann Sinnot this week. I’ll dig a little more for this charity and Keira.
Love and respect to them.Flowers

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 26/04/2021 23:24

I entirely agree, Terranean. It's so nasty.

Isn't it so sad that we are all overjoyed, that a WOMENS domestic abuse centre has publicly adhered to their policies and EA, to say bio women only.

How the fuck did we get here 😪

I will certainly be donating.

PrivacyOne · 27/04/2021 00:41

Islander here who was actually going to apply for that post, but didn’t in the end! Sad fact is that we have a massive domestic abuse problem over here so God only knows where we’d be without Fiona Gwinnett, the CEO. Thanks for supporting!

sashh · 27/04/2021 05:51

I have an email, I didn't ask or expect one but I'm posting it here because as far as I am concerned it is a message to all who have donated and / or sent messages of support.

Thank you so much for your message, your donation and your support. We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the number of positive messages we have received. It has been both humbling and energising

We intend to keep our safe spaces safe, and our services women lead by women for women!

Thanks again

Best wishes

I had one too.

We have been absolutely overwhelmed by the support we have received. It is both humbling and energising. I can assure you we will be preserving our safe spaces and services for as long as we are legally able.

Thanks again

Best wishes

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 27/04/2021 08:26

I've donated too. What an excellent organisation.

As long as they are legally able to keep adult males out of their female only service. Says it all.

Males don't NEED these spaces. They don't even want them. It's about removing them from us. They really do hate us that much.

mollythemeerkat · 27/04/2021 10:03

Donated. Thank god at least one organisation is sticking its head over the parapet to endorse the Equality Act. Traumatised women need a safe space, surely anyone with half an ounce of empathy would get that.
