Orgasm cult and "overcoming" sexual preference for your own good

Has anybody else listened to this BBC R4 programme? It's about the orgasmic meditation company/cult One Taste. I knew someone involved in it abd it definitely seemed all-consuming. Anyway, I would be interested if anybody knows of any links between it and another movement we normally discuss. One Taste was based in San Fransisco's Foursome Street, home of BDSM pride (although it had nothing to do with that AFAIK). It had wealthy tech guys who didn't have much/any experience with women (as well as less wealthy tech guys who became poorer through their involvement with One Taste). The women involved generally had little to no money.

There was an idea that if you weren't attracted to someone then you should practice orgasmic meditation (have your clit stroked for 15 mins) or have full sex with the person because it was good practice for improving your orgasm. ie if you feel repulsed, throw away your sexual boundaries and you'll be liberated and have a better sex life. It sounds eerily similar to what lesbians are being told these days.

What on earth??!!!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 21/04/2021 23:11

Is it hoodathunkit who is an FWR mine of information on various cults and exploitative sex organisations?

CardinalLolzy · 21/04/2021 23:15

I'm sorry but "Foursome Street" GrinGrin

Is that near Folsom?

samosamo · 22/04/2021 07:24

Tried to listen tovthisca month or so ago. Found it slow going. Couldn't maintain my focus on it. It's not historical of I remember correctly. She recorded the interviews at beginning of lockdown?!

So bizarre to me. Parents breaking off from a family dinner to clit stroke for 15 minutes...

Sophoclesthefox · 22/04/2021 07:29

I listened to the first couple of episodes, and it was very weird. Like samosamo, I found it slow going and it didn’t grab me.

It reminded me of Brian from Hull and his yoni massage

picklemewalnuts · 22/04/2021 07:32

@hoodathunkit is this one you know about?

That bloke was harmless in comparison to One Taste! He sounds like someone who could have gotten sucked in by One Taste when he was younger though.

Interestingly, tantra was very much frowned upon by OMers! Yoni Brian was all about taking women to maximum pleasure iver an extended time (aka tantra), OMers have a timer set at 15 minutes! 😂 It literally rang at 15 minutes and you'd need to be orgasming then, on the dot! Apparently it worked well...

Not watched the stuff but this all sounds kind of familiar in a weird way.

When I was a teen the boys still had their lists of things to try but the hangover from the stuff in the 70s was there and so being 'good' , the girl having an orgasm was a badge of honour.

The result was not sexual nirvana for girls but the boys going on at you do you like this shall I do that did you come etc. Of course when it's 2 sexually inexperienced teens the answer is usually that felt weird that was too fast you missed that bit completely and of course i didn't. You didn't tell them that obv you just wanted them to shut up and get on with it!

The jackhammer bloke on here I think it was reckoned that 2 hours (or something) of cunniligus would be like wow awesome to women and loads were. I'd get bored.

The posts on here about it sound like that. It's a thing for the blokes.

FFS when will men ever get it into their heads.
If a woman is up for it she'll let you know.

If she fancies you she'll let you know and there won't be too much effort involved for either of you.

You don't need to convince a woman into doing some dull as hell tantric stuff and make out she needs to "overcome" her lack of sexual desire for you. That's just rapey.

NiceGerbil · 22/04/2021 21:51

Yy to the rapeyness.

And for the other.. a friend met a bloke who turned out to be a feathery stroker. No feathers but he kept going on about running her baths with candles sensual massage etc.

She said he keeps on about it and it sounds dull as fuck. She dumped him.

From tantric feathery stroker to wham bam thank you ma'am... All the same it's about what the man wants.

I'm so sorry to post in a hurry but I am dealing with an insanely demanding schedule at the moment

Yes I listened to this excellent podcast when it first came out

I learned from it and would recommend it highly to readers here

One Taste / OM is one of the many abusive sex cults I have been trying to warn people about for years.

The podcast gets increasingly interesting and relevant to my interests as it progresses.

The most interesting / relevant episode for me was IMMIC callled Things Get Dark and it was either the final or penultimate episode.

The podcast makers did not know when they made the podcast but I had been researching some extremely dangerous criminal networks that use women's empowerment circles / playshops / events and MLMs (often combined) as a cover for sex trafficking and other serious crimes.

The Things Get Dark episode, where One Taste / OM is alleged to be involved in sex trafficking and other terrible things was something I was painfuly aware of.

I had seen One Taste social media presence become infected / infiltrated by POIs involved in serious organised criminal networks whose businesses involved blackmail, prostitution, sex and labour traffickings, drug trafficking, CSE and all manner of other crimes over a number of years.

The Things Get Dark episode is not just about One Taste, is is about overlapping criminal networks that use the cover of empowerment, education and inspiration to enslave and exploit children and vulnerable adults in the most appalling manner.

The podcast gets increasingly likely to be "triggering" as it progresses. However if you can take it, it is extremely educational and a very important and educative listen.

That's all from me for now

RadicalFern · 23/04/2021 16:41

Thanks hoodathunkit!

I thought you'd be familiar with it hoodathunkit but even so - your summary is unsettling to the point of being disturbing (albeit necessary to know).
