It may turn out that this web site will be more of a turning point than the heavily censored Reclaim These Streets group. They have added a new page and say:

USE YOUR VOICE:

Everyone, we want to hear from you!

Please submit in the anonymous Suggestion Box below, or email us your suggestions and ideas for positive change.

Share your knowledge

We have also created a survey to give you the opportunity to answer some questions to help us explore and identify areas to act on. This will help us bring about change by understanding the current presence of rape culture in our society. If you would like to take part in the survey please click the button below.

Links are on the web page www.everyonesinvited.uk/use-your-voice

Yes it does seem to be more open to all suggestions by not shutting down views that don’t agree with. I like the suggestions box

stumbledin · 06/04/2021 14:25

I expected to come back to some angry comments because guess what ...

In their survey they ask:

What sex are you?
• Male (including transgender men)
• Female (including transgender women)
• Prefer not to say

I know it is hopeless to expect anyone who recently been through higer education and increasingly secondary schools will just accept this as fact.

So apart from the disappointment of being reminded that for so many young people this is a badge of honour to publicly show they accept the rainbow agenda, it also means any data is skewed.

You would have thought they would want to be able to show that (as so many loudly say) that trans women suffer for sexual violence than anyone else.

Sigh.

Sad

they've been indoctrinated by a combination of stonewall in schools, social media and beeee kiiiiiind to believe that people are literally the opposite sex if they say they are

as you say it means the data is a nonsense and it also obscures the fact that trans pupils may have different but equal harassment issues to deal with but that will all be hidden

poor kids. Subject to so much harassment on the basis of sex and yet they are unable to join the dots between being a biological girl/woman and being on the receiving end of rape and sexual assaults and the sex that perpetrates that harassment

OhHolyJesus · 06/04/2021 15:19

I'm not sure the 'read testimonies' but isn't wank fodder for paedophiles.

I understand what it seeks to achieve and there is much to support but it will attract sickos.

Their support lead and advisor runs weekly survivors sessions but also runs SHAG

"shag is a cluster fuck of messy, complicated, inclusive, individuals creatives from all over the world that want to be free in their own skin..."

Some of the 'shared stories' is also just well...wank fodder.

Kit19 · 06/04/2021 15:24

I have wondered about the wisdom of having the testimonies freely and openly available without even having to register. I can totally see a certain type of individual getting off on them

OhHolyJesus · 06/04/2021 15:26

Sorry wrong URL

I won't repeat it. In the context of what Everyone's Invited is meant to be about it really shouldn't be juxtaposed with words around casual sex.

stumbledin · 06/04/2021 16:15

what a depressing web site - even if the topic wasn't so off putting, my mind just goes NO when I read "creatives" ...

But more and more as people, I mean mainly women, in the public eye are more open about the past, they tell of terrible experiences including rape. And I am not saying it is true of all, but many of the women in the public eye who make a big thing about being on the cutting edge of female sexuality seem to share a history of sexual abuse / rape.

Which of course men in the media then love to focus on or ask for more and more explicit photos.

I think it would be useful to start by defining what rape culture is.

I don’t think it is possible to see it as something separate from society more widely, and our understanding of women’s and men’s places and roles in society. I.e gender. You cannot separate ‘rape culture’ and ‘gender’, so reifying gender reinforces the mindsets underpinning rape culture.

StillWeRise · 06/04/2021 16:50

I have just self defined as
female which does not include trans women

it really is crazy they would not see how they are muddying the waters here

YouJustDoYou · 06/04/2021 17:01

Sadly the survey simply isn't specific enough. But it's a start, at least. Filled it in.

stumbledin · 06/04/2021 18:02

You cannot separate ‘rape culture’ and ‘gender’

Not sure why you are using the word gender. Surely rape culture is about the sex class male that has a sense of entitlement to abuse and use the bodies of the sex class women.

ie women are seen as not having autonomous ownership of their own bodies. Rape culture is men saying they own women's bodies.

This is one of the reasons why the WLM when added the 7th Demand separated out the right of women to self defined sexuality from the new demand as an over reaching demand to all demands.

The women's liberation movement asserts a woman's right to define her own sexuality, and demands:

1 Equal pay for equal work
2 Equal education and job oportunities
3 Free contraception
4 Free 24-hour community-controlled childcare
5 Legal and financial independence for women
6 An end to discrimination against lesbians
7 Freedom for all women from intimidation by the threat or use of male violence. An end to the laws, assumptions and institutions which perpetuate male dominance and men's agression towards women

(Funny to think that if we were making these demands to day we would have to have an over riding demand for women's right to assert who is a woman!)

stumbledin · 06/04/2021 18:12

ooops - I just copied the demands off the first web page that came up agter googling. And in fact there is a mistake. The third demand was for Abortion rights!

Weird wee survey. Why the age focus for certain issues?

stumbledin · 06/04/2021 23:56

I assumed that as the web site was initially about sexual abuse in schools and universities, but maybe not.

To be fair to them it is a huge area to research on.

Has anyone, eg a women's group ever done a survey on rape and sexual abuse?
