Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Has anyone seen Jack Monroe's Twitter revelations today?

I know Mumsnet generally isn't a fan but she's today said she was sexually abused as a child by a primary school teacher who later stalked and harassed her for years. That her mental health issues, jumping from job to job, her desire to appear less feminine all stems from this.

It explains so much about a lot of Jack's behaviour over the years, her fragile mental health and her issues with gender

I do feel sorry for her. She’s always seemed like a very vulnerable person.

Wilsonwilson · 14/03/2021 02:33

Poor love, I have only heard of her from here, people seemed to hate her for some reason. Probably for being poor.

babbaloushka · 14/03/2021 02:46

Can anyone give me a bit of background? Google doesn't offer too much on opinions.

CrayonInThreeBits · 14/03/2021 02:51
Hmm
NiceGerbil · 14/03/2021 02:52

There was another thread.

It's a harrowing read what she experienced.

Firstbellini · 14/03/2021 03:08

She’s pretty amazing to keep on going and accomplish what she has while also dealing with such a horrific crime and getting no help from the police.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 14/03/2021 03:16

Kind of screws up any court case, though. She's pretty much identified him up to his home address.

Oblomov21 · 14/03/2021 03:38

No surprise. She is so messed up. But I can't find anything about it online.

PotholeParadies · 14/03/2021 04:44

Oblomov it's her twitter.

I expect only the details and sheer scale will surprise you.

notyourhandmaid · 14/03/2021 04:54

Oh, the poor woman.

Gingerkittykat · 14/03/2021 07:55

It explains why she wants to opt out of womanhood.

I hope she gets help to move forward and am angry yet another abuser has escaped justice.

I didn't see that, were some tweets deleted?
LizzieSiddal · 14/03/2021 08:10

Doesn’t surprise me at all. Her behaviour points towards someone who has suffered terrible trauma in her early life.

Outoftheshadow · 14/03/2021 08:19

If she’d of been born 15 years later there’s a good chance she’d of been ‘Jack the lad’ now

considering shes been to the police a few times and they done nothing i dont think any court case would be forthcoming
CrunchyBiscs · 14/03/2021 08:37

Be good if other victims came forward and they could make a case.

nettie434 · 14/03/2021 09:26

I'm a fan and yes I agree the thread explains a lot. Yes there are identifiable details for people who knew her as a child or through work but the police have had what 20 years (guessing that from her tweets) to investigate her harassment and abuse.

Looseleaf · 14/03/2021 09:36

This sounds so sad. I really admire her from one of her books I have and use regularly to keep my too-high food bills down. It’s one of my favourites
