Inspired by the thread of screenshots of TRA threats, I thought I would do the same for homophobia from this group.

Obviously there may be some crossover as the homophobia and violent threats go hand in hand with these guys.

A hate crime actually has to have a crime attached to it, and the perception being that the motive for committing the crime was hate.

The range of crime which can be hate crime is quite broad, and when it comes to people reporting transphobia has included stickers with slogans saying women don't have penises, "harassing" tweets and being addressed as a member of your sex in the street. This theoretically should also apply to gay men and lesbians.

A hate crime is any incident where someone is targeted because of their identity. Hate crime can take any shape and isn't always illegal behaviour, but it is always motivated by prejudice

(I note "misogyny" is on the list, but right at the bottom just before "goth").

She's told ''why won't you date transwomen, lesbian sex is just fingering and licking anyway''

The 18yo says she doesn't want to date biological males, she's had bad experiences with men. She's told she just needs to ''find good men then''.

The whole exchange is her being forced to justify her sexual orientation.

Why do the people who write posts like those in the link think writing stuff like that will make people want to sleep with them? Do they think writing coercive and abusive tweets will make them desirable? Why do they write like incels?

Quite. And if you only ever read a few of these tweets to know what some TRAs think, no reasonable person would have anything to do with their philosophy. No wonder some young lesbians may toy with the idea that becoming male would be a lot easier.

Wow. I remember horrible men saying that to lesbians when I was younger "aw come on, why do you hate men, you just need to find the right man, the right guy will turn you on so much you'll go straight" etc etc. And then sometimes proceeding into "jokes" about corrective rape.

This is exactly the same except the person who is saying it to lesbians is now identifying as a woman.

I saw an exchange on a Jedward Twitter thread the other day, with a TRA-type accusing someone of homophobia when it was actually the TRA-poster themselves assuming Jedward must be gay because they are “effeminate” (quoting them). They’ve since deleted the offending tweets but it did lead me to the response in context “Effeminate men are men, get over it!” which I was semi proud of.

A few times recently when I’ve seen, mostly very young Tweeters, when calmly and factually called on their misogyny and homophobia, delete their tweets. I take a little heart from that, perhaps they are learning.

I do think a lot of them are possibly young, and just don't think what they're saying through. Unfortunately a lot of them just double down, though.

I think I'd hate to be young now. Whether gay or trans.

Do gay men ever date trans men or lesbians trans women?
I'm sorry if I'm being clumsy but it seems that the trans community are on a hiding to nothing here.
Why don't lesbian trans women date other lesbian trans women?

Gay men are starting to get the same pressure, but not nearly as much as lesbians I don't think. And they are more able to tell TRAs to get lost.

Some transwomen date each other, but it seems that lesbian women are a source of validation for many.
