I heard this reported on Radio 4's PM programme were that idiot school boy sniggered all through the segment (which he does most of the time anyway).
But he did manage to engage his brain to notice that although younger people are more likely to think they are gay or queer, young women seem less keen to say they are lesbian. The woman being interviewed seemed equally at sea and unable to answer, but said she thought it was because lesbianism was sexualised by society.
Funnily enough (ha ha no surprise really) neither Evan Davis for the special reporter talked about the harassment of lesbians.
Another male view of the world confirmed by the BBC.
Cant find a proper report on this but here are some figures from one newspaper:
• Women are more likely than men to identify as LGBTQ (6.4% vs 4.9%.)
• Women are more likely to identify as bisexual than men (4.3% vs 1.8%.)
