Domestic abuse charity to lose its funding

Sorry, I know it’s a Sun link but I came across this on Facebook and I’m appalled.

Women’s Aid boss Nicki Norman, said: 'We are at serious risk of losing our network of refuges run by women for women'.

It's very sad.

Wanted to bump and also say that a petition has been set up to ask Brighton & Hove City Council (now that they have stopped funding the Women's refuge as it is not gender neutral) to:

1/ Fund RISE - Ensure RISE has dedicated and sufficient core funds to maintain vital telephone helplines and specialist client services.

2/ Bring our women's refuge home! - Keep services based on trust, local connections, and fundamental provision for the vulnerable.

It's on Change.org, search 'Rise up! Bring Our Women's Refuge Home' they are at 24000/25000 sigs so almost there. Note, Rise do have a separate LGBT provision too, but separate.

Just wanted to bump again as they have almost reached their signature target of 25,000.

It would be good if we could help them challenge Brighton & Hove Council and help support this irreplaceable charity.
