New campaign for mixed lavatories

I would like to start a new campaign for mixed lavatory etiquette.
All people including those with penises must sit down on the toilet, standing up is forbidden. The seat must remain down.
All people including those with penises must shut the lavatory door.

Workplaces should develop policies, linked to disciplinary procedure. Anyone caught violating the protocols will get a warning, third strike and you are sacked. Whoever you are.

I can’t see any non-penis people complaining.

There you go.

I don't care how men pee and I've no intention of getting involved in the mechanics of it. Men can honestly do whatever they want in their own toilets.

Mixed toilets aren't 'here to stay' where they've been created by sacrificing female-only facilities. Where mistakes like this have been made, they'll be rectified.

Those women who accept or enjoy sharing with the fellas can continue to do so however they wish, in separate facilities from the rest of us who reject mixed sex options.

Women have a right to female-only facilities.

We're going to keep demanding them until every woman and girl has their needs catered for, as is her right.

That's really all there is to it.

BlackForestCake · 20/02/2021 19:50

Agree, mixed sex toilets are not here to stay. Nobody likes them.

Datun · 20/02/2021 19:59

Mixed toilets are here to stay.

No they're not.

Women are 51% of the population, and we don't want them.

The answer's no.

Hepsie · 20/02/2021 20:01

No. I don't want mixed sex toilets. Even if there are rules. Just no.

Redsquareoctopus · 20/02/2021 20:09

@Barracker @Datun @BlackForestCake
Yes they fucking are. I wanted to go to the loo today and all there was, was a fucking mixed council toilet covered in piss by men. My council is massively ‘progressive,’and changing all toilets to mixed. If you think that single sexed toilets are going to be protected you are deluded. Mixed toilets are being installed all over the country RIGHT NOW.

Men don’t give a fuck. AS I said in my previous post my sarcasm hasn’t translated well but if we want to campaign against them, then we need to make men uncomfortable

Men would be incensed if we regularly left period blood all on the toilet seats.

But in all my many years I've never once encountered that sort of mess in the ladies loo.

Mixed sex work loo seats were always covered in piss from men though.

Whatwouldscullydo · 20/02/2021 20:27

Making men uncomfortable reduces us to their level. Most already are uncomfortable. They don't want it either.

And for the small group who get off on the discomfort, well retaliation plays right into their hands.

Redsquareoctopus · 20/02/2021 20:43

You are right, but it made me sad and cross today. My council and local NHS have done bad things to women this week. My need to do a wee today tipped me over the edge and because of lockdown there was so other option

That's why stopping stonewall giving their interpretation of the law is important. See the Allison Bailey case for the sunlight required.

That's why anne sinnot's legal campaign to make the EHRC clarify that providers can give sex segregated facilities, is important.

Women are saying no. I've no intention of giving up my sex segregated facilities, if men promise to shut the bloody door.

Redsquareoctopus · 20/02/2021 20:54

My point (badly made) is that if men are ‘forced’ to sit on the seat and shut the door, that the patriarchy will rise up and take issue. Cos they sure aren’t listening to us.

OP posts:
Whatwouldscullydo · 20/02/2021 20:59

Thing is you can't police shutting the door etc asking women.to step up like that will do 2 things . 1. Place them.in danger. 2, make the men doing it do it even more out of principle.

Sometime ignoring things and not giving the attention so clearly wanted is the best course of action.

The notices didn't even work in the home office.

As pp said we sort it by using the law and exposing legal issues etc

Oh yes, I'm all for recruiting men to the cause. It's just not a solution.
Redsquareoctopus · 20/02/2021 21:07

As they stand at the moment... but what about technology, loos that only work if you sit on them, lights that only switch on when the door is shut.

Whatwouldscullydo · 20/02/2021 21:11

Think that's unworkable fir women with buggies who may need to leave door ajar to watch kids and anyone with kids who tells them to not lock the door.

Redsquareoctopus · 20/02/2021 21:23

Darn it. You foiled my lockdown mussings

OP posts:
Whatwouldscullydo · 20/02/2021 21:26

It would also add to the excuses as to why dad's can't take their kids out.

I mean they don't want them in the mens, if they are then able to get out of taking their kids out wheb the toilets are mixed sex cos of the lights then that leaves women stuck at home with the kids even more

Barracker · 20/02/2021 22:16

I completely understand your rage. And I don't blame you for venting here. We'll listen and sympathise.

But you and I both know that if you truly believe we can't even achieve our own toilets, there's zero chance of us gaining buy-in for "rules women want to impose upon men" and less than zero chance of "policing tactics and consequences that women would like to employ to control men".

We're living through a horrible era. But we're the ones who have to change it. It sucks. But it will be reversed. It will.
