'Gender Equal Media Scotland, in collaboration with Engender, are commissioning a small-scale research project examining gender inequality in Scottish media'

This organisation is looking to examine 'gender inequality' in Scottish media. But with particular emphasis on 'marginalised' women. Defined as:

'(racialised women, queer women, older women, disabled women, single parents) working in media and related cultural industries in Scotland and the UK.'

I think it will be interesting to see how this investigation pans out. I've worked in media for twenty years, off and on, and hadn't heard of this organisation before ...

There are all these new groups being started up and the same sort of people in all of them with the same ideas.

What are 'racialised' women? Seems a strange term.

ArabellaScott · 18/02/2021 20:02

Yes, I thought that, too, malloo. I've heard people mispronounce 'racist' as 'racialist' before, that's the closest I have heard to 'racialised'.

I would presume it's women who have experienced racism, though it doesn't really make sense grammatically, as far as I can see. www.thefreedictionary.com/racialised
