Beefcurtains79 · 15/02/2021 10:04

Oh no, what did they say? 😠

OhHolyJesus · 15/02/2021 10:07

Missed the interview but will check back here later for links if anyone can share. FPFW have tweeted: Barrister instructed!

I’m applying for a census officer job at the moment and even their diversity monitoring says gender and not sex. The ONS are totally captured.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 15/02/2021 10:17

Looks like you can rewind the listen live function, I'm going to go back 30 mins and see if I can catch it.

Helmetbymidnight · 15/02/2021 11:31

ONS are Stonewall Diversity Champions and at a roundtable discussion on this, they had only Stonewall and LGBTfoundation putting forwards their views. (See LGB Alliance)

The level of unquestioning institutional capture Stonewall has achieved is really mind-blowing.

Gcnq · 15/02/2021 11:58

Can anyone summarize it...
(Cheeky I know sorry)

Gatehouse77 · 15/02/2021 13:00

You can listen again on the website.
My summary would be the host and Nic Williams agreeing that your biological sex (at birth) needs to be recorded for accurate data in order that resources, research, etc. can be directed to the right people.

They used an example of why crash test dummies now include female forms because when they didn't women were suffering far more injuries, etc. as the safety features were based on only male bodies.

And that with covid there are differences between how the sexes can react and that needs to be addressed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 15/02/2021 13:03

Was it Julia Hartley Brewer?

Thingybob · 15/02/2021 13:17

Nicola also made the important point that the ONS are considered the gold standard of data collection so it impacts how everyone else collects data.

I also thought she sounded much more annoyed, assertive and unwilling to 'be kind' than I had ever heard her before.

Yes Julia HB show at about 9.52

I want to know where all the evidence is for us awful terrorists (people arguing against the ideology are being labelled as terrorists by certain high profile activists) who are going to use the birth sex data gathered on the census to hunt down and attack trans people?

This is the justification I have seen for people being allowed to not disclose their actual birth sex. That it is dangerous for them to do that as people/government might misuse the information to attack them - what world do they live in??

Why would anyone interested in trans issues not want anyone to know how many trans people there are that need to be taken account for resource planning, as much as we want people to know how many women there are so our needs are be catered for.

This is absolute lunacy. I am pleased that FPFW are looking into this but am a bit worried that it might not be found to be unlawful as NO ONE WOULD EVER DREAMED THAT THE ONS WOULD REFUSE TO GATHER DATA ON SEX so didn't think to make a law mandating for it.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 15/02/2021 14:08

Good grief.

The world has actually gone mad.

Gcnq · 16/02/2021 13:29

Non believers are labelled as terrorists now? Shock

I'd like to see someone try this - the records are closed for 100 years...
