Someone asked earlier about any articles in the papers today - this is good from Lionel Shriver this morning

Why is she talking about females transitioning to males. You cannot change sex. A femaile can never be male. You can call yourself a man but male is the scientific term. ffs

Good article.

This line summed it up well: "Women don’t matter; people who have renounced being women do."

To which one could add: "And people who are male, including those who claim they are not."

The overwhelming majority of the people who use BSUH’s maternity services: women. This strained, clumsy, impractical lexicon is meant to cater instead to the tiny number of natal females who transition to male socially but not medically and give birth. As of 2017, the UK had two such people. To coin a phrase, the policy is not for the many, but the few. Women don’t matter; people who have renounced being women do.

I’m still skimming this article but I think she gets the point across. Fakenina she says transition to male socially not medically but I see your point - however it is a difficult point to get across and she may be constrained by editors

fakenina

I agree, we again have the confusing conflation between biological sex and gender.
