Spain split as government allows people to ‘choose’ their gender without having medical consultation

Spain is to allow people to change their gender without having a medical consultation or a diagnosis of gender dysphoria in a move which has split women’s groups and even the left-wing government.

The so-called Trans Law, which is to get its first reading in parliament this month, will allow people from the age of 16 upwards to alter their sex on official identity documents so that they are male, female or non-binary.

The attack on women's rights, safety and dignity is never-ending - from all sides of the political spectrum and across the globe.

Terrifying.

Minors will be allowed hormone blockers at the start of puberty to help suppress the development of breasts or facial hair, followed by cross-sex hormone therapy

Tough fines of up to €150,000 will be levied against those convicted of trying to carry out LGBT conversion therapy

Fucking frightening
Transing gay kids IS conversion therapy.

Horrendous.

So many appalling aspects discussed but:

The legislation will open the way to assisted reproductive treatment for trans people.

How disingenuous - No mention that ‘trans people’ have already got the same reproductive function as everyone else - and it is this bill that will remove it - particularly for minors who aren’t old enough to be trusted to decide their own bedtime.

Evil.

“The so-called right to sexual self-determination lacks legal rationality", the Socialist party said in a policy document

Not just legal rationality but any rationality or common sense at all.
How can such infringements on existing female sex based rights actually be legal?

When you have the Spanish united Left party expelling the leader ofThe Feminist Party of Spain, Lidia Falcón, anything is possible. But why have they not learned anything from the Keira Bell case?

OldCrone · 03/02/2021 20:57

Several Spanish feminist organisations have formed the Alliance Against the Erasure of Women in protest against the plan, saying they fear that the elimination of sex as a biological category “renders invisible the main element on which structural inequality against women is based” and makes social policies aimed at women potentially useless.

This is the problem with self-ID which so many people seem to refuse to see. If any man is free to declare himself a woman, how do you protect women's rights?
