Why do these beard bros not feel any concern at shitting on women?

Thread starts here, also screenshot.

I take the first to mean "FFS it should be obvious!"

The second sounds like they've misunderstood the sarcasm in the first. But it could always be a TRA/MRA - they don't seem capable of rationality.

Murray is the director, his first tweet was a faux wide-eyed question about why it matters who uses what toilet. (Looks like I forgot to post the link, sorry!)

Seems totally incapable of putting himself in another persons passion and considering their viewpoint.

That is a total non sequitur.

Isn't he embarrassed to come out with such nonsense?

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 31/01/2021 22:52

Director of a “family friendly” festival doesn’t understand safeguarding. Wow brilliant Hmm

DeaconBoo · 01/02/2021 09:21

The 'reduced to' argument is so embarrassingly poor.

Murray 'reduced' trans rights to a swearing tweet there and reinforced misogynistic aggression that he claims to be against.

"We're super stoked to have recently made The @guardian
's top 10 list of 'Best Small Family-Friendly Festivals in the UK for 2019'"

Jamie's 'reduced' the passion of film-making to a number and therefore reinforces the capitalist exploitation of art.

Using any form of 'description' is to 'reduce' something, is it?

Again, if you genuinely don't understand why we do something (have separate toilets) maybe look into it before revealing your utter ignorance? Chesterton's fence, innit.

Whatdoyoudowhendemocracyfails · 01/02/2021 09:35

I was considering going to that festival - if they ever resume - as it’s one of the few that are dog friendly. Shan’t be doing that now.

DeaconBoo · 01/02/2021 10:02

It's described as a dog-friendly festival, therefore its function is to cater to dogs and dogs only, right? Following Jamie Murray's logic there...

Saying that women are the people who have female bodies (hundreds of differences to male bodies besides just male genitalia, btw) is not REDUCING women to their genitals or bodies. This is so, so obvious if you think about it for more than half a second. It's not sexist to say women have vaginas, it's sexist to pretend that because women have vaginas they're incompetent, lesser, and so on.

We could just as easily argue that he's reducing womanhood to a feeling in a male-bodied person's head. Or stereotypes. Or whatever his illuminating definition of a woman is.

Why are so many men - and almost always well-off, straight, privileged white men - so desperate to took over women, ignoring our thoughts, feelings and fears, and define womenhood for us? THERE's your sexism, mate.

despairenting · 01/02/2021 11:53

I meant talk over women, apparently I'm now posting in my accent, lol

Harmarsuperstar · 01/02/2021 13:33

The 'reducing women to their genitals' thing also has an undercurrent of women's genitals and reproductive systems being a bit disgusting and not to be mentioned (misogyny, anyone?)

prisencolinensinainciusol2 · 01/02/2021 13:36

I'm surprised to see Bunbury slumming it like that.
