Woman’s hour

I quite like the current presenters and Emma’s interviewing style. But was surprised to find Monday’s programme unbalanced in favour of men. The item on fertility ( male ) was long and interesting but despite the man saying several times that his partner might want to contribute, this seems to have been ignored. Just afterward there was an item on girls mental health issues, where one of the experts turned the focus on himself while apparently ignoring the issue of girls with a brief nod to internet use. Turning into men’s hour or anyone’s hour at least. Shame.slightly balanced by the reporting on the CPS case.

Yeah this is becoming womanish 45 mins.

It'll be people's 25 mins this time next year.

Yes the male fertility stuff does need including. That book "it's starts with the egg" points out how much it's the sperm too. And links alcohol consumption in the father to increased risks of miscarriage etc. And their taking of some supplements eg folic acid (or folate) to better pregnancy outcomes.

I don't think this is new, doing stuff about men, though there may be more of it under EB. But I remember hearing a longish section on testicular cancer on WH, which must have been at least a decade ago. It was because a lot of testicular cancers are found by female partners, and they're likely to be the ones pushing the man to take it seriously and get it checked.

Yes I remember that.

I think the thing is so far we aren't really hearing EB taking the opportunity to really drum down on things that are v much related to women in a way she could and Jenni might have.

I am willing to give her some more time though as I have seen a good film of her at some book festival in YouTube, and there, she did impress me.
