Boots prescription service - sex v. gender.

I thought I'd share the following the reply I got from Boots wrt the form you have to complete for their online prescption service that asks for gender and gives the options 'male' or 'female'.

'We appreciate your feedback regarding the gender section and are grateful to you for highlighting this. I can confirm that this is something our Online Pharmacy Team are currently looking to update as for medical purposes the correct wording should be sex at birth.

This is required by the NHS to ascertain that the medication is suitable for the individual so I have therefore shared your feedback with our Online Pharmacy Team to assist in their ongoing review

but I noticed today on twitter they are promoting the hashtag #prescibekindess I saw it and shuddered ...

I would argue that it's still their sex - at birth or otherwise, but small victories and all that, well done OP!

A good sign but I'm another who would say sex at birth is just a half way house solution and a partial lie, as it suggests sex can change after birth.

But still. They are 'looking at it'.
