Australian surrogate born journalist criticises IVF clinics

This article criticised the IVF clinics and appears to be pushing for regulation but also for commercial surrogacy with the argument that everyone is getting paid but not the donors or surrogate mothers.

I find this interesting as she has gone through IVF herself as she is in a same sex couple but as she is born from a surrogate/donor sperm arrangement whilst it was legal in Victoria. She finishes on a sad (but probably realistic note) that she may not have children herself but she wants others to be able to and from her examples it's clear she wants a better service for the prices charged, so it's disappointing that she doesn't cover the exploitation or nature of a baby being a product when referring to surrogacy.

It's strange that she can see that surrogates are potentially risking their lives but thinks it's okay as long as they get something "tangible", i.e. payment.

She's a great example of how people change their views when they're the ones who have to give something up. She was against commercial surrogacy right up until she thought she might need it. Of course it's painful for anyone who wants a child and can't have one but asking for Australia to legalise commercial surrogacy and for taxpayers to fund IVF isn't the answer.
